Tips on minimizing withdrawal symptoms from Effexor (aka Venlafaxine)
I have been taking Effexor/Venlafaxine for years and tried to get off it a few times but each time I try to give up the chemical withdrawal symptoms are a horror story and I give up giving up. Anyone got any tips or tried and tested strategies? Thank you

Please let us know how it goes. I have until weds before I have to start counting beads. The 25 mg tablet sounds like it might be an easier way to go.

It’s pretty amazing that we have this kind of support available. I’m appreciating it also.
Certainly easier with a tablet but who knows what will happen with no time release. I will keep you informed. It will be so nice to get this monkey off my back.

The beads for a 37.5 capsule is complicated unless you have an accurate medication scale.
Complicated more because the beads are different sizes as I understand it.
I thought it was 121 but it might be 124 and I also heard it was 135 but who knows for sure except a pharmacist who can accurately weigh the beads. FNot sure they would do that for you.
I’d go slow from here to zero. In this race being slow wins. Don’t be in a hurry for those potential side effects that may come.
Best of luck

It really is amazing. Wish home computers were around 50 years ago when I developed Epilepsy. I bet my breakdown could have been avoided if I could of found some people to chat with. Technology does have advantages.

Thank you!
I agree, this support is phenomenal to know that I’m not alone
Doc said to allow about a week +-. It will be a week tomorrow since my last pill and today is the first day of no brain zaps. I’m hoping I’m getting to the edge of the woods and will be out in the next couple of days.
Please, can someone tell me what a "brain zap" is? All I feel is crummy with this withdrawal stuff: nausea, fatigue and vertigo. Today I put orange juice in my coffee, walked out the door with a piece of frozen liver in my hand (was going to leave on counter to defrost) and left my purse on a park bench. But no brain zaps.

Oh I just laughed so hard! I totally relate! I can't tell you how many times I’ve done stuff like that.
