Thyroid issues and POTS.
Anyone deal with constipation with POTS and thyroid issues? I can’t seem to get relief but for maybe a few days then my back hurts and m bloated again. I drink tons of water, electrolytes and have a healthy diet. Should I see gut doctor?

I have hypothyroidism and IBS-C. I use "power pudding" as a fiber supplement. There are several different recipes online, but I use this one:
POWER PUDDING RECIPE FOR CONSTIPATION
Use a mixture of 1 cup of All-Bran cereal, 1 cup of applesauce, and 1 cup of prune juice; begin
administration in small amounts and gradually increase amount. Start with one tablespoon per
day and gradually adjust. Keep refrigerated.
It is important also to ingest sufficient fluids. Pudding will not be effective and can
lead to constipation if enough fluid is not consumed

2 ReactionsSorry to hear about your problems. I do have similar issues. I use generic MiraLAX much cheaper than the namebrand and it is prescribed. I have found some fruits and things that do help when they are in season. I love dates, sweet and black plums or purple plums, followed by grapes
But the most important thing I could think is you need to make an appointment with your family doctor and ask them if you should see a specialist or if they feel they could take care of you
Apples is also a good fruit to eat
I have also found green beans fresh ones which are now in the grocery stores and corn any kind of vegetable that is high in fiber will help
I wish you the best. It’s no fun.

1 ReactionI’m hypo and suffer chronic constipation that led to severe digestive disorders. Your thyroid dose may be incorrect. How long since that was checked. Also, even when your tsh lies in-between those normal numbers does not mean for everyone, yout thyroid is good. My normal is very close to the low number on the labs reference range. If I sit in the middle or closer to the high end I get all sorts of symptoms.
I would talk to the person in charge of your dose, PCP or Endo and I would make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. If you’ve had a colonoscopy, go to that doctor. Best of luck.
The recipe someone suggested would just kill my gut because I’m very sensitive to fiber and that for me is way to high in fiber.

3 Reactions@mothermary1 I’m happy to see that you are still active on MCC and helping others. How has your health been this past year?
I found relief taking three MagSRT capsules every night at bedtime. It does help make me regular and is not "explosive" as some types of magnesium are.
@becsbuddy Hello, absolutely no changes at all. Now that I’m almost 71 last 4 Gastro docs think I’ll be borrowing from Petter to pay Paul if I wanted the total colectomy. I don’t, but up to 30 laxatives at bedtime followed by an awful am routine.
I’m 5 years in so I just hope my regimen stays kind for me and this will last another 5. I’ve beat all the odds that this would not last. One day at a time.
