Thumb arthritis: Did anyone have carpometacarpal (CMC) surgery?
Has anyone had CMC surgery where the trapezium bone is removed and your tendons are knotted to sit in the space to cushion your thumb? If so what was your experience? Thanks in advance

I had the CMC surgery about 10 years ago. It was a painful recovery; took quite a while, but it dud eliminate the awful pain and dysfunction in my left thumb. However, having been through it, I know I couldn't handle it if it had to be done on the right side, as I'm right handed. My RA has wrecked my hands and wrists anyway, so I'm resigned to putting up with the pain. I take plenty of Tylenol and Tramadol as well. I'm on Xeljanz. You just do what you have to. Always get a second opinion before surgery.
