DFB,
You don't sound odd. You sound normal or what should be normal. It's nice that you have those feelings and realize that you do. I get positive feelings that everything is going to be just fine but I can't tell you what is going to be fine. However, every time I get this feeling and it is very strong something turns out just perfect that I was worried about. I like to think it all comes from God. And, I say a prayer of thanks to him.
I also can sense when evil is present. Then I just say another prayer and leave the area.
You are right about love. We all need it.

1 ReactionCBGB was a dive bar in NYC that operated from the early-70s until the mid-aughts. It was a breeding ground for punk/alternative rock bands, giving groups like the Ramones, Talking Heads, Blondie and Patti Smith their starts.
There's a documentary about the club that got really bad reviews. But, I liked it. Maybe check it out, if you're bored.

3 ReactionsThe famous boxer, George Foreman, named 5 of his sons "George" and one of his daughters Georgetta.
You didn't mention your kids' names.
Just curious....

1 ReactionI forgot to mention how amazing it is that 3 of your kids were born on the exact same day of the year!
Probably made it easier on Mom and Dad when they were younger: only one trip to Toys"R"us and Chuck E Cheese instead of three!

1 Reaction@scottrl Hi Scott - I don’t seem to be able to find on here why you haven’t ever held a young person in your arms. Is that because you don’t have arms? It’s hard to imagine not ever having had that experience 💔

2 ReactionsIt's an interesting question.
I am from a small family, no younger siblings, no cousins, nieces, or nephews for me to be around, or to be around me. My wife and I don't have children.
Also, I was a bachelor for a very long time. Bachelors are typically unwelcome at young family gatherings; at least I was unwelcome. I never had many opportunities to be around very young children.
Additionally, I tend to scare young kids. Even when young, I was a big clunky guy. Kids' usual reaction to me was to run away, screaming for mommy. (Oddly enough, a lot of young women had the same reaction.) Now that I'm older and disabled, I walk with a cane and move very awkwardly. Most little kids have never seen anyone like me. Hell, most adults haven't.
Finally, I am great with animals -- dogs, cats, and even snakes like me. But with kids, I get very anxious. Since becoming disabled, I don't have two arms available anyway. It wouldn't be safe for me or the kid if I tried picking one up.
(Your comment about me not having arms kind of hit home, though I'm sure you meant no harm.)
Oddly enough, older kids seem to like me. My wife tells me it's because I don't talk down to them. I talk to them like they're grown-ups, which they like, apparently. (I married into a *very* large family.) But that's completely hands-off.

11 Reactions@scottrl I’m so sorry, you’re right that I didn’t mean to hurt or offend you. Thank you so much for sharing. We all have so many different experiences in our lives. It’s very enlightening to be shown an experience outside our own experience. It widens our outlook. You’ve taught me a lot today and I appreciate that and you.

6 ReactionsHi Scott,
Isn't life interesting? How different we all are and yet so much alike? You weren't around young children or cousins. I was around both and neither of them liked me much nor I, them. I also got along better with animals than people. You liked snakes and I love spiders! I'm always gathering them up carefully in a tissue to put them outside on a leaf when I find them in the house. I even got my husband to stop killing them! I can't see killing anything that can make something as beautiful as a spider web!
You mentioned that the big family you married into is "hands off". That's too bad or maybe not. When my husband died only one of his three sons from a former marriage contacted me. They hadn't contacted my husband for five years prior to his death.
Yet, life goes on and we cope the best we can. I'm getting used to being alone and in some ways even enjoying being alone. You are communicating very well and interesting despite all of your physical problems. I guess we both have God to thank for our positive situations.
