I'm at 4 years, almost.
Symptoms evolve over time.
Symptoms wax and wane like a sine wave gradually climbing up, toward cured. But not there.

I lost taste and smell when I actually had covid (I did not get particularly sick, long covid worse than covid).

However, starting maybe 3 months ago, my taste and smell are enhanced, and more almost psychedelically enhanced. I now taste better than I did 40 years ago.

Two doctors have told me the same thing, including a neurosurgeon at Mayo. Won’t return.

Did they say why and how they know? What is the cause? Specially, and not just long covid.

Have any of you taken the sniff test given by ENT that involves identifying various odors like orange, chocolate, peanut butter, etc.? I didn’t do very well, but I have an issue with the test.

This was in early 2022 when I was told this. They gave no reason why it wouldn’t return or had no explanation for why it had occurred. To be fair little was known about long covid then.

I am not very good about altering diet to try to resolve the issue. I just eat what I normally want.

It does help to know others are dealing with the same thing. Most people can’t believe it has been 2.5 years since I lost my sense of smell. It also confirms it is definitely due to Covid.
