@paya, broken heart syndrome is a heart condition that's often brought on by stressful situations and extreme emotions. The condition also can be triggered by a serious physical illness or surgery. Broken heart syndrome is usually temporary. But some people may continue to feel unwell after the heart is healed. Here's more information from Mayo Clinic

Paya, you mention that this has happened to you 5 times. Have doctors called it recurrent takotsubo cardiomyopathy? Have you noticed any pattern that triggers the symptoms?

@paya I strongly believe it has to come from between your ears. As much as you may have had an intense and durable emotional bond with a single person in your life, the reality is that you two were going to have to part at some time perforce. Nature was always going to win this one, regardless of the type of loss we're talking about (you haven't revealed the nature of your 'loss). Whether it was clashing personalities, illness, accident, criminal, or a voluntary withdrawal by other means, you were to be denied in the end, as sad as that must be. But you are here, seeking solace or advice, meaning you're functional and wanting to feel better than you have for a while. That has to count for something! That, alone, tells me you want your old self back (the motivation necessary to commence the process) and that you actually HAVE commenced it by seeking some help here. Good for you!

There are things you can do. Physical exercise is amazing and appears in every journal, advice column, scientific report and study.....because it is so reliably effective. Getting out for a determined, brisk, and 40 minute walk every day will do wonders for you. If nothing else, it helps to get you outside your own head and seeing beautiful and interesting things that all mean life is worth struggling to maintain. Joining a bridge group, or rejoining one. If you enjoy singing, join a choir or a choral society and learn new pieces. Sing with others!

Sometimes writing about your experiences, all of them, helps. This is like exercise: it must be done every day. Especially if it is to be a daily journal, which many, many, people keep.

You were left behind. You're in exactly the same place, maybe not the same condition, as when you had yet to encounter the post person. You're all the way back there. What were you doing back then that made you motivated to live, that made you happy, interested in things and in people. You're there right NOW! You may live another year, another decade, or maybe two or three decades (don't know anything about you). You must find a way to live a year happily or it will be a long one. And if you parted on good terms with your lost person, what would they want you to do for yourself?
