Wondering about swimwear & sun protection after transplant

Posted by benedict66066 @benedict66066, Feb 3 4:03pm

I have just transplanted and I’m now wondering what women wear for swimming, knowing I need sun protection.

I live in AZ, do an hour if aqua aerobics regularly in the pool and do not sun bathe. I wear a rash guard, a baseball cap, and SPF lotion for sun protection.
Hope this helps.

Good morning from Canada
Not sure exactly how far you are along in your journey and what transplant you had but I was told that swimming in public pools and lakes are a definite No-No. And speaking from experience I can say don't risk it. I wasn't even swimming. I was floating in a lake and I got sepsis and ended up in the hospital for 21 days on IV antibiotics. So my personal opinion is don't do it.

I was told no pool until everything is healed but I had a couple of surgeries so 2 1/2 years post transplant i swim 5 days a week in the winter I’m in a indoor pool and warmer days I’m outside I use Blue Lizard sunscreen just on my face it doesn’t have bad ingredients and wear a wetsuit vest tight to keep my guts intact and no , I went to my dermatologist and I have zero issues with my skin, getting in the sun is one of the most healthy things you can do
