Sudden new episodes of fainting, after blood pressure was hypotension

Posted by marybasaldella @tinamaria1, May 25 9:08am

Anyone experience this? I don't have any known blood issues. I was pre-diabetic but through diet changes , I brought A1C down to normal range.

Suddenly this past month I fainted or passed out in middle of night or first thing in morning as I climbed outa bed...fell, fainted after taking a few steps. Yesterday I bought a BP kit and as soon as I woke up, while still lying down, took BP and it was 89/54 pulse 51, then waited 10 minutes, sat up, elevated arms to heart level on a hard surface and BP was 114/78, pulse 61. I am an avid athlete, tennis, running, lifting, etc. and have been told in past I had low BP but never this low to the point I fainted. I am going to see a cardiologist next week.

Anyone experience this? I am 58.

Yes I've experienced this but I'm all I'm in my thirties you might want to try but I don't do as much not an athletic keep track of your blood pressures that's exact same time they'll ask you about blood pressures they'll probably do it echo on you they'll probably do a halter monitor on you or is it a z patch on you see what's going on and you could try buying a wedge and putting it into your bed that might help with blood pressure so your blood pressure doesn't drop so much and and maybe try drinking some water to see if you don't get dehydrated best of luck.

The BP numbers you cite are low....too low. Also, your HR is right on the cusp of officially being 'bradycardia', with the delineation at 50 in most medical communities. However, if you're in good heart health, and somewhat fit, there should be no cause for alarm with waking HR even down to about 45. If you have other comorbidities and are not what could charitably be called 'good shape', then that HR is worrisome enough, FOR ME, to suggest that you might wish to apprise your health care providers of what's going on.

You are being vigilant and active in your own wellbeing, so good for you. Keep monitoring, and assume that you need to do some mild calisthenics before attempting to stand each morning. You do NOT want to faint and bang your head or break a collar bone or something.

Has happened to me my entire life. Even old and overweight I still will have 85/55 occasionally and 100/60 fairly often. Drink a lot of water - fluid helps. Sit a minute on the side of your bed before you jump up.

There are a lot of coping strategies and I’m betting you're fine. .

Yes that indeed that is a scary incident. I have a loved one experiencing the same thing.waiting on echocardiogram and a hart monitor. If you had any medication change or take multiple meds, I would recommend cross reference all your meds for adverse effects when used together. And verify the mg. I found the blood pressure meds was changed by our previous provider. From a 10 mg to a 20/25 mg. And the added drug that was 25 mg had a added effect that lower the blood pressure when taken with 4 other prescriptions from our new provider. Its always a good idea to research any meds that you are about to take. I would be interested in hearing your diagnoses. Hopeing to get a good diagnoses hear and will pray that you too will have a good outcome.
Good luck

YES! I was a pastry chef for 30 years and hurt my back really bad. All of a sudden I started having huge palpitations and when I would bend over I began to pass out. I was 49 it had never happened in my extremely active, physical life. Syncope and or POTS . After many Drs I was told to eat as much salt as I could🥺 Apparently I didn't tell them I had been craving salt and licking Doritos in copious amounts. Now my BP borderline HIGH! I was also prescribed fluronef/fludrocortisone to help keep liquid in. Now I know if the gray blanket sensation coming over my head to hurry and get on floor or ground because I'm passing out. I did the loop recorder crap and I'm thinking that's a scam. 4 years and many many palpitations like my heart coming out of my chest BUT no info from recorder UNLESS in middle of episode I had presence of my to hold recorder over my heart, press button and wait or not wait for beep and light HELLO IM PASSING OUT! Drink lots of water and Powerade zero is my advice.

OMG!!! this is SO SO INSIGHTFUL HELPFUL THANK YOU!! These are my symptoms, and YES, I can tell people "hey I am on verge of passing out..I see only black dots..get me some gatorade or OJ etc.)...cause I experienced this about 5 times..And yes, my docs have mentioned I am a person who should be adding salt etc. like you.. I am not under any care for high cholesterol or hypertension, or diabetes... I visited a cardiologist and I am now wearing a smart technology heart monitor for 7 daysscheduled for an EKKOcardiogram, a heart ultrasound too, but NOW I will tell my Primary doc what you suggested and ask for this tilt-test which I read about when I googled Syncope and POTS..term I never heard of before. THANK YOU STRANGER!! wishing you peace and will let you know what I find out because now I am afraid to walk right after I wake up from sleeping or resting..fearing I will black out again..btw my heart rate, resting pulse..is consistently low but has been very low recently. take care dear

YES, my blood pressure and heart had always been low. You are correct tilt table test is what you need. I couldn't do that bc I had (in the middle of all this) been diagnosed with a stroke. Completely occluded MCA. I'm still alive and mostly recovered from the stroke, I think I am the only one who knows the deficit

You might want to try wearing compressive socks and there is something called a salt 6 what you can put in your water and they come in different flavors. And have you ever been tested for Addison's disease that can cause low blood pressure to or have you ever been has your thyroid ever been checked. Or has your have you ever checked your magnesium. Are your potassium cuz that can play a level in your heart rate too.
