Stopping Keytruda due to adverse effects

Posted by abob @abob, Oct 26, 2025

After 24 Keytruda infusions thru 1.5yrs, my husband has developed adverse symptoms — Afibs, hyperthyroidism, skin rash, gi issues, lack of appetite, fatigue, etc. Oncologist wanted 2 years, but thinks next infusion will be his last.

I hope my husband recovers from Keytruda side effects & lives cancer free for many years.

Has this been anyone else’s experience? Thx

My last keytruda infusion was November of 2025. Struggling since January. Adrenal insufficiency then in the hospital 4 days with acute respiratory failure exacerbated by adrenal insufficiency. It exaserbates asthma and allergies. Two hospital stays. I was told to do hypoallergenic everything. High eosinophils so now diagnosed with eosinophilic asthma.. now having eosinophilic esophagitis. Suddenly can tolerate foods and milk that I drank daily. Waiting on more testing. Doctors say it’s from cancer treatment. Just barely functioning. Cancer and chemo is , for me, nothing compared to how I feel now. Life threatening illness and have to carry life saving injections

Hi,
I stopped Keytruda after 4 treatments due to a severe rash. My last treatment was in December 2025. It took about 2 months to get rid of the rash. It is now May 2026 and I have just broken out with this rash again. Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome @lamichal, This rash sounds painful. I'm sorry to hear that you are facing this yet again. Has your doctor had any suggestions?

Luckily the rash has been fading over the last couple of days. I hope it never returns!
