CANVAS Syndrome - Anyone else have this?

Posted by peca @peca, 9 hours ago

Good morning, does anyone have the symptom of stiffness in the weight and trunk in sensory neuropathy?

Welcome @peca, I don't have sensory neuropathy but do have small fiber peripheral neuropathy. I haven't seen any other members with sensory neuropathy who have posted about stiffness in the weight and trunk of the body but hopefully someone with experience can respond. From what I've read it sounds like you may be describing stiff-person syndrome. Mayo Clinic has some information here if you want to see if it's similar to what you are experiencing - https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/what-is-stiff-person-syndrome/

Do you have other neuropathy symptoms as well as the stiffness?

@johnbishop hello! I’m from Brazil, and I was evaluated at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. My diagnosis is leaning more toward CANVAS syndrome, and I’m currently waiting for the genetic test results. My test for Stiff Person Syndrome was negative. I’m an ophthalmologist specializing in retina, so if anyone has any questions about ophthalmology or retinal conditions, please feel free to ask.

Hello @peca, I'm also a Rochester Mayo Clinic patient. You will notice that we changed the title of your discussion so that others with experience can find it easier and hopefully share their experience. If you haven't already seen this, the National Ataxia Foundation has quite a bit of information on the condition along with some webinars that might be helpful while you wait for members to respond.
