Stiff heart

Posted by Jim @wrig1jam, Aug 7, 2023

While walking and climbing steep grades it feels like my heart is too stiff to meet the demands. I get hot flashes, BPM as high as 130, dizziness and enormous fatigue. Received heart stent 2 years ago and i stay fairly active. Looking for suggestions on next steps.

Hello @wrig1jam,
It sounds like you have a history of heart disease with two stents a few years ago. You posted your question here in the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Group, do you have a diagnosis of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy? That is my first question. My second question to you, is reading your symptoms, which sound concerning, have you talked to your cardiologist about this? That's important. Mayo Connect can't give medical advise, we are just members like you, but I can suggest that you get ahold of your doctor asap and get these symptoms addressed. Is your cardiologist aware you are experiencing these symptoms?

Hi @wrig1jam, you mentioned you had an appointment this past Friday. How did that go for you? Did you learn anything new or get some helpful insight to your issues. Like @karukgirl mentioned, have you been diagnose with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)?

I had a heart monitor on for 24 hours that i returned on August 12, this Wednesday i meet with a heart physician to hear about the results. I am thinking i may have had an episode of heat exhaustion the day i got so fatigued snd dizzy. I was told by s doctor in arizona that i had hypertrophic myopathy but my minnesota doctor said i didnt so there is some confusion. Will give s report after Wednesday

Received results from the holter monitor today and they were all normal. Physician said my problem that i was concerned about was most likely dehydration. I feel like everything is fine except i need to pay attention to staying hydrated.
