Stage 4 PC Longevity: Anyone have prostate cancer more than 10 years?

Posted by ringmastr1 @ringmastr1, May 26, 2023

There is a lot of great info on this forum. I am 54 and was just diagnosed in January with metastatic Stage 4 PC. (Hip, L4, Sacrum, and a small liver lesion). My PSA has gone from 359 in January to .24 last week and I feel great! I am curious to know how many guys on this forum have been treated for more than 10 years and what your quality of life is like. It is stories like this that will give me (and others) more hope. Peace to you all!!!

Hi, I was given radiotherapy 10 years ago & had 9.5 great years but recently diagnosed with Stage 4 metastasis with 3 spots on my spine undetectable by bone scan but visible on CT. Being treated with Abiraterone only. I see some uplifting stories here & elsewhere but given only 2/3 years by oncology. I hear Chemotherapy along with Hormone therapy is administered in many clinics. Can anyone advise?

Get a 2nd opinion as fast as possible, 2 years ? No way, you will 20 if treated with the 3 combination right from the start!

Welcome. Has radiation to the lymph area been suggested?

It was closer to 20 lymph nodes scattered across a vast region and the oncologist and radiation oncologist were of the opinion that 5 was the max, so we discounted this option.

Now on ADT for 12 months and PSA less than 0.1, hoping it stays that way for another 12 months and then off ADT. If and when the PSA rises, will most certainly get to a PSMA PET and if the metastatic areas are not so widespread, I think radiation will be an option.

we shall see, for now just trying to sleep enough, these days I need 10 hours a night!

2017 had prostate radiated. 2020 had L2 radiated 1 inch out and back on Zolodex that stops testosterone the fertilizer of cancer Get on Zolodex shots
Jan 2023 PSA went up to 9.8 and several small spots on T 10 to T 9 and another 1 inch on L1 this time Put on Xtandi and PSA dropped to 1.7 and Xgeva plus vitamins C and D and gummy apple cyder vinegar for white blood cells
Xtandi Enzalutamide has slowly stopped working as PSA now 6,5 In Jan 24 they are looking at Chemo for me 8 sets 3 weeks apart. Looking also at Clinical Trial of 177 LU at PMH Princess Margaret but its random so I could just get Chemo that I can do near by CVH Credit Valley H
Oncologist said lots of options so just stay fit, positive and I pray daily
79 and feel fine Off to Sandals in Jamaica again for New Years Just got back Nov 28th
Get on Zolodex, Xgeva and others and only chemo as advised Quality of life is important Stats of 30% make it 5 years are based on 2010 to 2018 data Lots of new treatment plans since then not included in stats Get restaged with todays latest stuff.
