Sputum sample when on Brinsupri
I've been on Brinsupri since last November. Thankfully, my inflammation and sputum have decreased. I need to send in a sputum sample to NJH next week and have no idea how that's going to happen. They want at least 5 ml and most days I can't get that much up. I've read tips and hints but most of those are pre-Brinsupri. I know I can't collect a sample over two days. Anyone else in this position? Thank you! Jennifer

I'm in the same boat. I'm getting very little sputum since i've been on the brinsupri. I just finished several weeks of infusions for the pseudomonas, that flared up My pulmonologist wants a sputum test to make sure that they've backed off. Put, I've tried and tried, and nothing's coming up. I use acetylstine twice a day.And now she's added saline, 7 % . I'm getting a tiny bit but not enough for a sample. So I'll keep trying.Anybody got any tips I'm open.
If you know where your bronchiectasis is, have you tried postural drainage after 2 vials of 7% saline?
No, I haven't but I'll ask my pulmonologist about it.
@vstankie Same issue here. When I was at NJH, I could barely produce anything while nebulizing 7% saline, so the RT had me try 10% saline. I did produce more but it was also a little irritating while nebulizing. I asked my NJH ID doctor if I could get a script for 10% saline, just in case I have problems in the future.
