Sprain in upper back: Has anyone had a trapezoid sprain?

Has anyone had a trapezoid sprain?

I had shoulder surgery. As a result of being in a sling for 6 weeks, it caused a painful strain in my upper left back (trapezoid muscle). The pain goes into neck and shoulder.
I tried steroid pack but no relief after 3 weeks.
Now trying Physical Therapy.
Just wondering how long this will last. It is more painful than the rotator cuff surgery!

@nemo1

I am sorry you are in pain Celia…

Thank you for answering my questions. I appreciate it!

Spasms. Mine are strange. The ones in the back and feet do not go away. Massage and stretching now hurts when it used to help. I don’t understand that.

If anything the pain reduces in the back (the Baclofen helps) but they remind me they are not far away. Mobility takes a hit. The ones in the calves come an go unpredictably, but they are never far either. The body hurts. I have to be patient for care to catch up.

If I move in a particular way, it reminds me to not do that, don’t move that way. I’m starting to get twinges in my arms that is reminiscent of a spasm beginning, but it hasn’t yet.

Once my physical therapy doctor suggested my back spasm might be “guarding”.

Good for you! Fight for coverage and get the medication. I am glad the medication was approved and that helped you! 😀

I’ve not heard of Botox for spasm. I’m so glad the Botox eradicated the spasm. I hope it never returns!!

I didn’t know rheumatologists inject.

I had a shot in the great toe many years ago. The pain that caused was not worth it, It did not help the bunion.

I have a few important doctor appointments to discuss problems, diagnosis, tests and medicine renewals coming up. I will do exactly what you suggest. It is all about goals isn’t it?

Please feel better and take care of yourself. I hope your elbow feels better soon.

The spasm left just before I was ready to get the botox injection. Occurred suddenly and left suddenly.

I’m not sure what caused it, Still a mystery.

Thanks for well wishes.
