SPR Peripheral Nerve Stimulator (SPRINT)

Posted by katec @katec, Aug 20, 2021

Hi everyone! The Sprint implant was recently recommended my son (17 years old) who suffers from severe pain on the bottoms of both feet from his SFN. Has anyone ever tried this device? It’s only “implanted” for 60 days so it sounds like an interesting concept but hesitant since the DRG implant was ineffective for him. Thank you so much for any insight anyone may have! Have a great day!

I’ve adventures down these roads as well with severe effects of back pain and feet , hands numb I’ve tried the spinal cord stimulator had it for 8 months never worked I had the paddle type leads with a lot of coverage all of my back , legs , feet , arms , hands . I’m in a wheelchair I can’t feel my feet anymore . I also don’t feel hot or cold but that being said only thing that will work entirely for the pain is a pain pump
forget the stimulators go see your pain management and get it done a lot safer then any stimulators and and you will still be able to get MRI’s. My 2 cents . The more you get cut on and the more injections you get the more scar tissue your causing . NONE OF THAT IS GOOD be your own advocate you know your own pain level no o w else can tell you how you feel don’t fall for the BS with stimulators you have pain 24/7 the pain pump is the only way to go . Your mind and soul will thank you for it

The neurosurgeon I am seeing, says a patience age is an important factor in whether to use the pain pump. At 72, he said I am too old to use the pain pump. He said, at my age, I would have difficulty dealing w/ the drug addiction.

The pain pump drug used is of a snail derivative medication instead of the traditional treatment like Hydrocodone etc . It probably wouldn’t work for everyone but seek the truth
I saying look at all options instead of the knife every time that’s causes more scar tissue and damage to already compromised nerves . And injections is the same way . Anything we do has an adverse affect it’s what ever works for you
Age, how much damage you have already, And what side affects issues that will arise . Do you own how work on your own health before you make a decision as we all do of course . Some things work some don’t and some can cause ever lasting effects that you can’t ever fix once done . It’s not a one all fix for each individual
I’m saying seek further because it’s you that has deal with the consequences there after

Hello @mm1. Because you're interested in connecting with others who may have information to share, you will notice that I have moved your post into an existing discussion on the SPRINT stimulator where I see you have shared previously.

Where are you at with exploring this as an option for you? What are your main concerns/questions?

Is the sprint stimulator the SPR stimulator? I noticed in my GYN response the pain doctor may use the SPR stimulator. What is it and do you have to have surgery to put it in your spine? I guess I will know more when I see the pain doctor on Thursday. For a while lyrica was working but now the pain is back to the level was in February. I sure hope the pain doctor can provide relief since the pain is intolerable.
