Spotting Following Cortisone Injection

Posted by toromama @toromama, Feb 19, 2021

Anyone else experienced spotting following a cortisone injection? This is my second experience. Both times it started about 10 days after the injection. Just wondering how long it usually lasts. The first time was a number of years ago and I thought it only lasted a few hours. I'm now on Day 2. I'm 61 years old and went through menopause when I was 52.

Yes had two biopsies in office neg. Everytime hip injection spot bleed. Then had to do hysterscopy D &C. Turned out 2 small polops that probably showed the thickening on ultrasound. Everything ok now. Wish doctors would put us through this.

Thank you for your reply. So you are menopausal and you also had a thickening of the uterine lining too?

Post menopausal 67. Yes kept going up from 6 than 7 than 8mm. I know the cortisone shots in hip cause spotting about week later. Don't know about thickening. But poloyps added to thickness.

I'm 68 postmenopausal since 51. Using Estradiol vaginal cream because I have pessary for prolapse. I get steroid injections for arthritis in both shoulders and 1 thumb. Feb 2nd I had injections in both shoulders and the 1 thumb, never got all 3 at the same time before. 2 weeks later I had spotting. Spotting only on tissue for 3 days. Went to gyno had ultrasound with 7mm uterine thickening. Im taking 100mg progesterone since and go the 24th of April for repeat ultrasound. I believe it was just a perfect storm combination that caused the spotting. I hope the thickening is down below 5 as my gyno wants. At least I know that others experienced this too.
