Spinal steroid injections while on Prednisone
I am on 13 mg prednisone for PMR for over two years. I am scheduled for steroid injections in spine for spinal stenosis and multiple bulging disks, etc. I will have sedation (like for a colonoscopy) and wonder if I will need a boost dose of steroid like for surgery to avoid adrenal crisis. Maybe not since I will be getting more steroid from the injection? Anyone experienced this?

I would recommend you ask your pain doctor and rheumatologist about the risks.
I was diagnosed 2 years ago with PMR. I could not raise my arms above my neck and had trouble with both hips. Before all this I played a lot of golf and had several lower right back pulls that would usually heal in a few days. In the first month after PMR diagnosis I was attempting to put my socks on with one leg up on my dresser. I felt a terrible pull in my lower right back that I could not get out of bed for three days. This time it has not healed and two years later I can’t play golf and have trouble walking over a mile. I did have an MRI. My Rheumatologist refuses to believe that the back condition has anything to do with the PMR. During these 2 years I have tried months of PT, four steroid shots. Two in my hip and two in my back. Just a month ago the pain Docter tried a nerve block. All of this provided no relief for my back pain. He is now wanting to try an ablation. I don’t know if I will have that done. I am almost past two years of the PMR diagnosis. The rheumatologist started me on 12 mg of prednisone two years ago and I have tapered to 4.5. It sure gets tougher trying to get below 5. Any thoughts on this bad back?
@todds have your doctors looked at your sacroiliac joint specifically? It could be the source of your pain. My husband has had multiple ablations on his spine and sacroiliac joint which is broken from a fall. All of them gave him great pain relief. Best wishes.
