@sallik74- Good Morning. I had a CT Lung screening and they found a spiculated nodule that had been growing for 9 years. Then I had my testing and procedures done at Mayo in Phoenix, AZ. I had a spiculated nodule in my left upper lung. They did a PET scan, barely lit up, bronchoscopy, then a breathing test, stress tests, etc. They did a Segmentectomy and then did a biopsy and marker testing on the nodule after they got it out. It was adenocarcinoma- KRAS mutation. They knew it was cancer before they even took it out. Fine with me! I wanted it out. The Pulmonologist said he didn’t need a biopsy because he has seen enough of them to know it was cancer. But, I could always request a biopsy if I wanted one before the surgery. I trust Mayo, so I didn’t see a need for it, and he was correct in his diagnosis. If you prefer to have a biopsy first, demand one. You have to feel comfortable with your Doctors and Surgeons and what they are telling you. If not, yea, go where you trust. God Bless you, and Beat wishes for you!

I have 3 options per Dr
Option 1
Watch & wait 6 months
Options 2
Needle biopsy
Option 3
Surgically remove
Test while sedated if cancer if so would preform lobectomy

@sallik74 I'm glad they presented options. how are you feeling about those? would a second opinion be helpful in deciding which path seems best for you?

@mamajite
I'm not sure about any of them.
I also mentioned radiation which she was going to look into
Do you know anything about radiation treatment?

@mamajite
The only thing about surgery it could be only scar tissue
I would hate to go through being cut on & it being nothing 😒
Then again, since it is spiculated , upper lobe & former smoker it has a greater chance of being
Cancer

@sallik74 I haven't had radiation myself. it's usually used when surgery isn't an option. sometimes it's used at the same time as a systemic treatment like chemotherapy or targeted therapy.
