Sores on tongue, sides of mouth.

Posted by suecutuli @suecutuli, 5 days ago

Well Yay another issue! Idk where to put this but it’s extremely painful and annoying. Around March our tree pollen was high and I started using Naselcort.
My allergies symptoms are weird -
But the part I had is the severe tiredness and irritability. I even left my home and went on vacay! I know I was very lucky to be able to. My mouth did seem to improve and then
It’s gotten really bad again. I can’t eat any spice! I must use my granddaughters strawberry toothpaste - so many things hurt. I did go
To the doctor but because my appointment was for
Something else they didn’t help me. I’m assuming now
I have some sort
Of histamine problem? I have positive ANA speckled 1:80 titer.
This is so hard
Bc my chronic pain is becoming worse and to deal with this makes
Me very depressed. I looked at
Both sides of my tongue last night and both sides
Have blisters? My inside
Cheeks also have white
Swatches? ANYONE?????

I forgot
To add I quit naselcort and have been off off it 10 days. My pollen is still high here.
But
No improvement

Consider consulting a dermatologist for a diagnostic opinion and treatment.

@suecutuli my mouth flares up like that too. What helps me is a mouth rinse for “Sore Mouth”. Right now I’m using the Oral-B one. It does help.
I have no idea what is going on, but I have had this for several years.

Sorry to hear you are dealing with this and have no answers yet. I also have had some weird mouth and tongue pain. Every time I am sick or run down, this seems to happen (flare of some sort?). My son also gets canker sores on his tongue or a weird map on his tongue every time he is about to get or is sick.

Here is what AI summarized off the internet as suggestions:
“ I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing these painful symptoms. It sounds quite distressing, especially with the combination of mouth sores, chronic pain, and allergy issues. Here are some potential considerations and suggestions:
Possible Causes
Allergic Reaction: Given your history of allergies and the use of Naselcort, it's possible that you could be experiencing an allergic reaction or irritation in your mouth.
Oral Thrush: The white patches in your mouth could indicate a fungal infection like oral thrush, which can occur in individuals with weakened immune systems or after using certain medications.
Aphthous Ulcers: These are common mouth sores that can be triggered by stress, certain foods, or underlying health conditions.
Histamine Intolerance: If you suspect a histamine issue, certain foods and environmental factors could be exacerbating your symptoms.
Autoimmune Conditions: Your positive ANA titer may suggest an autoimmune condition, which can sometimes manifest with oral symptoms.
Recommendations
Consult a Healthcare Professional: Since your symptoms are persistent and painful, it’s important to see a healthcare provider who can evaluate your mouth sores specifically. They may refer you to a specialist, such as an allergist or an oral medicine expert.
Avoid Irritants: Try to avoid spicy, acidic, or abrasive foods that may worsen your mouth sores. Stick to soft, bland foods that are easier to eat.
Oral Hygiene: Use a gentle toothpaste (like the one you mentioned) and maintain good oral hygiene to help prevent further irritation.
Hydration: Stay hydrated, as dry mouth can exacerbate discomfort.
Topical Treatments: Over-the-counter topical treatments for mouth sores may provide some relief. Look for products that contain benzocaine or other soothing ingredients.
Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of any new symptoms or changes, as this information can be helpful for your healthcare provider.
Emotional Support
Dealing with chronic pain and discomfort can be very challenging. Consider reaching out to support groups or mental health professionals who can help you cope with the emotional aspects of your condition.
If your symptoms worsen or you develop new symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.”

P.S. Here are suggestions from AI for doctors to see with your condition. I hope you get some answers and relief soon.

“If you're experiencing pain from sores in your mouth and on your tongue, consider seeing one of the following types of doctors:
Primary Care Physician (PCP): Your first step can be to visit your PCP, who can evaluate your symptoms and provide initial treatment or referrals to specialists.
Dentist: A dentist can assess oral health issues, including sores in the mouth and on the tongue, and may provide treatment or recommend further evaluation.
Oral Medicine Specialist: These specialists focus specifically on diagnosing and treating diseases of the mouth, including sores and other oral conditions.
Otolaryngologist (ENT): An ear, nose, and throat doctor can evaluate oral and throat issues, especially if you have related symptoms.
Allergist: If you suspect that allergies may be contributing to your symptoms, an allergist can help identify triggers and provide management strategies.
Starting with your primary care physician or dentist is often the best approach, as they can guide you to the appropriate specialist based on your specific symptoms and medical history.”

sucuteli, I am so sorry you are being bothered with this. I would go to rheumatologist as sores in mouth are
a sign of Lupus and the fact your ANA was positive.

Also, if you suspect its the Nasacort, ask your doctor about going on another steroid nasal spray and see if the
sores clear up.

Praying for you. Blessings.....

I have oral lichen planus, which causes extremely painful sores on my tongue and inner cheeks. I know my offenders: raw walnuts, bananas, sugar and acidic foods. If I stay away from these, my sores go away. I have had only 2-3 sores in the past several years.

Sounds like oral lichen planus. It's awful!

I have oral Lichen Planus as well and I use Tom children strawberry, fluoride free Toothpaste. I’ve been using it for a few years and my mouth has improved greatly. There are no eggs in it because it does not foam which I am very thankful for.
I do think you need to see an allergy doctor for skin testing. I think you have more than one thing going on with you and it’s gonna be hard to find the right doctor. You need to go to a teaching hospital and Clinic. 20 years ago, I went to an allergy clinic only and I had great results. I worked with both of my doctors and things improve greatly.
Google clinics around you I think you’ll find someone and I wish you the very best.

Hi y’all! Try this…
Recipe for Mouth Sores:
I got this recipe from an Oncology RN and she says to “Swish & Gargle & Spit” with this rinse many times a day to keep mouth tissue healthy. (Particularly before chemo pill, before meals, and many times a day to give pain relief).
2Tablespoons table iodized salt
2Tablespoons baking soda
2Cups tap water
She suggested putting in empty water bottle and shake until all dissolved.
This solution keeps the PH level in mouth tissues at a healthy level and promotes healing.
I sure hope this elevates your mouth pain. Bette

Speckled Ana means normally lupus or RA. The sister disease to that is Sjogrens. It breaks out your mouth bad. I have it. It is another autoimmune disorder.
