Absence seizures and applying for Social Security Insurance (SSI)

Hi

I'm a 25 your old who has absence seizures once in a few months. I've heard the I could apply for (SSI) because of my seizure, but I'm not fully sure. Does anyone have any advice or knowledge about it?

Does anyone live/have (SSI)?
Does anyone know how the (SSI) work?
How well is it?
What is the qualification?

Do you mean Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)? It provides monthly payments to people with disabilities who are unable to work. My sister was on SSDI; she had multiple medical conditions that prevented her from working. You will need supporting medical documentation.

To find out more, I suggest you start here:

If your seizures are every three months I doubt you'd qualify unless you have another disability or the Absences are causing other issues or become much more frequent or convert to another type of seizure.
Good luck,

From my work with various clients , I found that usually a person needs to apply twice usually first request is rejected.

I worked with my absence seizures since they were a weekly thing. When Tonic clonic were under control I continued working. When I started having anywhere from 1 to 5 a day I'd go to work and wake up in the hospital. After trying many meds my job retired me and hired a company to get me on ssdi. Went through 1st time which I hear is rare. You're lucky you only have 1 absence seizure every few months. I was diagnosed with those at 5yrs old so I've had them for 63 yrs. I have gotten down to 1 a day but nothing gets rid of them completely. I'm on 4 AEDS 2x a day. My Neurologist says she wants to reduce my meds.
