sleeplessness

Posted by termar @termar, Aug 1, 2011

I have a real hard time falling and staying asleep. I have tried alot of different remedies and over the counter meds. I find some that semi-work and I take them for a while and my body becomes immune. The cycle starts over again. I was in a car wreck a year ago and still have ALOT of pain and discomfort from that. I'm sure that is part of the problem, but I also had it before the wreck. Just not as bad. Any suggestions? I"m open!

I have been taking Ambien for about 12 years now to sleep. I must say that it helps me although I am sure its not the best thing to take for so many years but I dont know what else to do. My nightmares and night terrors are horrible!

Having had difficulty sleeping for 40+ years, I've had many meds. Just started Yoga classes. Seems to help, not completely, but it helps.

Hi my name is Ric and I average between 0 and 4 hours a night sleep most of my life. When In was younger it wasn't a problem. Now that I'm older it is a problem, I'm tired and would to sleep but can't. I've been to sleep specialists who give me advice I've already found doing my own research., Use the bed for sleep only, don't exercise later in the daym, stay away from other then the morning cup of coffee. None of it works as do none of the medications work anymore...my body has habituated to them. Any thoughts including new medications would be appreciated.

After I’m in bed and comfy I listen to “ Hipnosis for progressive muscle relaxation and sleep by Andrew Green“ on YouTube. It really helps me and by the time it’s over I’m asleep. Do not, I repeat do not leave your phone on the bed while listening and falling asleep. Prop it up on the book or some thing on your bedside table so it can have ventilation underneath it. Phones on beds cause fires. Hipnosis does not cause me any side effects… I don’t want to wake up and eat an onion! Hope this helps someone else.
