Skin peeling after shower

I am 79 years here. I am at stage 4 emphysema for 17 months. I take the coolest temperature and shortest timed shower that I can . I had problems with legs(mostly lower legs). The next day the skin on them would peel off profusely. When I applied moisture creams the skin still peeled and combined with the cream . I had skin flakes on the floor where I changed my clothing and all over the inside of the clothing and in my bed. My Doctor recommended I use. Aquaphor Healing Ointment . I don’t think it stopped the peeling . The profuse peeling stops when it is finished . I put this ointment on my legs and tried a shower. I made sure the water spray did not hit my legs . It was aimed at my upper chest and shoulder. The next day my shoulder and upper arm did the same peel process for 3 days . Anyone have any experience with this ?

I have this. It is AWFUL! I have severe asthma with copd overlap. Dermatologist says it is a contact dermatology issue. Had patch tests done. Had to give up ALL FRAGRANCE EVERYTHING, POLYESTER, among other things. Everything fragrance free. Pulminologist has never connected it to my copd. I STILL have the issue. What type of nebulizer medications do you use, in any? Any daily or rescue inhalers?

I thought it might be low oxygen to my skin . The stream from the shower might put enuf pressure on the skin to push oxygen away. That might be what your doc called contact reaction . However , I do recommend that ointment . It is kind of greasy. I hope we get more comments. My doc just looks confused when I tell her about it . Of course I am not peeling when I see her . I put a heat pad on my back for lung pain last night . It caused me the worst itching. I ‘m watching it today to see what more it might do . Thanks for your comments . Blessed Be, Crystal

My skin has been like this all my life. I use good cream moisturizer and add vitamin e and glycerin to my cream and put it on thick. That should help.

Please, please be careful using heating pads especially if you are having skin issues and particularly when if using on your back you can't monitor the appearance of the skin! You can sustain serious burns to the back doing that. I use "Medline Remedy Skin Repair with Olivamine. Medline skin care products were the preferred company for many Nursing Homes and Rehab Centers that I worked as their Director of Nurses. Love Medline products......available through Amazon.
