Single-most effective tactic for curbing sweet tooth
I decided to give up Coke Zero Decaffeinated, partly because it was getting so expensive. What I didn't know is that giving it up has helped me get my sweet tooth under control.
I was drinking only one can per day, but the aspartame (an artificial sweetener) in it was making me crave more and more sweets. Since giving it up, I have read that the artificial sweeteners found in diet soda are many times greater in sweetness than sugar, so they cue your taste buds and your brain to want more.
After two weeks, I am five pounds lighter, feeling more energy and sleeping better too.
I can walk by a plate of cookies, and not be tempted to take one, not even the slightest bit.
What's more, I have found that my overall appetite has been suppressed. For each meal, I make sure I eat a protein source, and a good fiber source. And that satisfies me. I can make it to the next meal without snacking.
So if you are fighting a sweet tooth and weight gain due to menopause, consider giving up diet sodas and see if it gives you results!
And please let me know if this has been helpful. I am not a health professional, I only know what is working for me. But maybe it can help you too! I am 71 years old, and still learning!

Hi Judy,
I think that's great that you got rid of diet coke! They put so much junk in them that it can't be good for you! And as you found out it isn't! I'm 79 and remember when diet coke was new. It didn't taste good at all! They must have changed it to make it taste better. Menopause saved me. I can't drink any kind of carbonated beverage at all anymore without feeling ill since I went through menopause.
I'm glad that you are doing so well with your diet and weight loss! Thank you for sharing this information about diet coke!
