Side effects of Eylea injections

I had one injection of a drug called Eylea in my eye which was 95 percent cured from using Avastan. My eye went back down to 30 percent with this new drug to the point where my sight is darkened and blurry. Has anyone had this problem after trying the drug Eyelina? Did you get your sight back?

I have been getting injections for 10 years now to treat wet macular degeneration…first in the right eye, then only recently in both eyes. I was first given Avastin, then about 4 or 5 years ago the doctor changed to EYLEA because the medicine lasts longer. It is a lot more costly, but my retina doctor says it is more effective.
Currently, (at age 77) I get injections at 12 week intervals in both eyes, and I have signed up for a new trial drug that supposedly only needs to be administered once every 10-12 months. This is new medicine and method, that I am not real clear about, although I recall the doctor saying the injection site is not the same.
The injections are uncomfortable, but no pain as described. It is important to flush the eyes thoroughly after the injection.

I was given Lucentis injections for wet macular but was recently changed to new released drug byooviz. I now have a long stringy floater in that eye. have you had any similar symptoms?

God bless. I was changed from Lucentis to byooviz and now my eye has gotten worse also. I think Lucentis is the best on the market so far. Good luck.

I also thought that others who have mentioned macular degeneration such as @spectec @lioness @jenniferhunter @gznqk5 might have comments on any side effects or improvements or the opposite they may have seen from aflibercept (Eyelea), if they or a loved one with this condition have taken it. @cehunt57 may also be familiar with this medication.

@stephenam also mentioned potentially having treatment with aflibercept (Eyelea), so wanted to invite her into this discussion. stephenam - did you end up having this treatment? If so, how has it gone for you?

@lvon - I realized that aflibercept (Eyelea) can be used to treat age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy and macular edema. Will you share a bit more about what condition you have for which you were prescribed this treatment?

I was given Lucentis injections with good results. then switched to Byooviz newly FDA approved. i now have stringy floater in the eye and vision is worse. Going to ask Dr. to go back to Lucentis if I can. I notice he hasn't given me an injection in a while. I wonder why????

I am now up to about 40 shots. One about every 5 weeks.
Progression has stopped. I am told some people have had far more and counting. You do what you have to do to preserve your vision.

I've had leakage behind the retinia ( don't know the proper name for this condition) and am seeing a retinologist for shots of something. First I have had 6or7 shots so far and another is scheduled. How much is enough? Also after a shot I am miserable. My eye waters like a fire hose; my nose runs non stop and it is somewhat painful for a day before it relents. Is this frequency and severity normal?

Ok I have been doing injections for 4 years. My eyes are at 20/20 but I will continue the rest of my life but maybe only 4 times a year. Your eyes watering after wards is because your eyes have not been flushed enough after your injection. Make sure you have them flush your eyes twice. I learned this the hard way. I walk out just like I walked in.

I liked Lucentis too but they give it any more and I don't know why. Are you seeing a good retina doctor who deals in only retina?

yes i am seeing a retinal specialist.
Wonder why they stopped Lucentis.
In my research I found out it is the only medication
that also treats diabetes related macular.
But then, I'm not the Dr. ha ha
