Every person is rather unique, and some cannot abide by a certain material ingested. The other thing is that it might NOT BE related to the supplement, but it just happened to be that what you experienced took place soon after taking the supplement and now your brain is looking to make an obvious connection. It's what is known as the 'post hoc, ergo propter hoc' fallacy. After this, so because of this. Even so, you could be right and would probably do best not to take it.
Or......try another supplement brand and maybe you will find that it's that brand, that filler, maybe poor quality control (some supplements are iffy for that). If you have the same reaction, then I will stand and agree with you. If you don't, ditch the older stuff and maybe enjoy the new....?

Hello @jaustin9
I am sorry to hear about your experience with the OTC GLP-P supplement.
The world of supplements is a challenging one to navigate. Besides the fact that most, if not all, of them are not regulated in any in regards to purity, concentration of active ingredient, etc., even the most benign of them can sometimes have unintended consequences. I recently had that very experience myself.
I experience arrhythmias - in particular tachycardia and supra tachycardia of both the sustained and non sustained variety. I do take a beta blocker but no other medication for arrhythmias since I am not symptomatic. But I do have a pacemaker that tracks all my episodes and relays them to the arrhythmia clinic who monitors my device. I may not feel them happening but, clearly, they do. And I get reports from the clinic detailing the episodes.
However, for the last 2 plus years, the episodes have increased, much to the surprise of my cardiologist and electrophysiologist. Further test were done and nothing structurally was shown to have changed. It was a puzzle.
I also have extensive osteoarthritis. I have been taking a natural supplement, a glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM combination, for that condition for the best part of 20 years. The brand I use is considered to be highly reputable and is locally and ethically sourced. But in light of the mystery, I wondered if there might be a connection.
After considerable research, I found there was evidence there might be a connection, enough so that it was recommended that those who had underlying cardiac issues, including arrhythmias, should not use glucosamine, etc. That surprised me since my doctors all knew I took it and their opinion was it wouldn't cause any harm. That is probably true for most but not for me. Anyhow, when I told them of my findings, they, too, were surprised (including my husband who is a retired cardiologist).
Long story short, I have stopped the supplements and arrhythmias have pretty much stopped. I still experience them once in a while but nothing like the rate that was going on before.
As a society, we tend to view natural supplements as being, well , natural and therefore relatively harmless. Such is not always the case. Sometimes, they interact or downright block, the effectiveness of other medications. Other times they can aggravate existing condition as in my case.
At any rate, I hope you have fully recovered from your experience.
All the best.
