SIBO…did it ever go away?
Hi everyone. Very long story short I recently came back from the Mayo pain rehabilitation program for chronic pain from IBS for the last few years. My question is: while going to many doctors for a diagnosis I did test positive for SIBO. The doctor didn’t think it was the cause of my symptoms however we wanted to treat it of course. I did two rounds of the antibiotic that they often give for SIBO. I was never retested and I never felt any different after the antibiotic. Is it possible that it never went away and could be contributing to my IBS symptoms? Thanks so much for your help! I know you’re not all doctors but would love opinions. Thanks.

I have my SIBO test on Monday. Had considered canceling it, since I’m much better, but if I do I’ll need another office consult to get a new order. Anyway, I bought a chicken to eat on Sunday with my white rice. The instructions say eat only baked or broiled chicken. Would crock pot cooked chicken be ok? It’s so hot here. I hate turning on the oven.
I have mentioned this in a previous comment but SIBO reoccurred several times until my daughter started being treated for mast cell activation. She was diagnosed at Mayo Scottsdale by a neurologist. When there are too many mast cells in the gut, it sets up conditions for SIBO. We have mast cells in our bodies, but when there are too many, they cause problems. She hasn't had a recurrence of SIBO in 5 years or so. If you are not familiar with mast cell activation, there should be some articles on Mayo or Cleveland Clinic. It has been recognized as a disorder for only about 15 years so many doctors are not familiar with it. Gastroenterologists were not knowledgeable about it when she started her journey for a diagnosis. Her allergy doctor treats her mast cell. Any physician who will tackle it can diagnosis and treat.

I have hydrogen SIBO, am doing better but still have bloating and am looking for more help.
What state or country are you in?
Mine is up and down. Some days I only eat the right foods and end up having loose stool. Other days I do the same thing and I’m good. It is confusing and challenging. I’m speaking with my nutritionist tomorrow.
