Severe Stress/Anxiety/Insomnia

Posted by @yangedd, Wed, Jan 30 11:56am

Hi guys,

Will update on my previous topic soon.

Right. For like the past week my stress/anxiety/insomnia have hit the roof. I'm over wraught, absolutely exhausted and have a mixture of symptoms such as severe stomach problems (Upset, the runs, acid and nausea), trembling hands, dry mouth, absolutely horrific migraines and an all out feeling of impending doom which is terrifying me (Paranoid feelings also, which are a part of BPD when you're stressed) so I'm up in a heap. My Doctor is away for the week so I ended up at the Pharmacy in such a state and told her I was about to bang my head off the wall and felt like vomiting. She was absolutely great on fairness and sold me a pill called "Excedrin", a mix of Paracetamol, Asprin and Caffeine. It's after taking a lot of the pain away but unfortunately I'm still left feeling shaky, sick, anxious, stressed and exhausted. It's not even 6pm here and I'm actually in my PJs and in bed as I write this. I just don't feel any bit sociable and have been ignoring phone calls because I don't have the mind to interact with anyone. I'm so sorry if it sounds like I'm complaining, but I just wanted to let people know what's going on for me (Mum's 9th anniversary is in four weeks too which has me even more upset). I promise to update on everything else soon. I don't have the energy to go into it now,

Ed

@sirgalahad

I do hope this helps because of being burnt out and melt down my executive functioning skills is basically fried and my levels of empathy are tad non existent . I contemplated this as I went for a walk yesterday to give myself a break from my assessing blood samples of the oncology children I am working with

@sirgalahad You are so special God is your only peace What you do is Gods work You must remember to do things to relax every week if possible to continue your work. Walks in the woods/ Massages/Tai Chi/Yoga You deserve it Sometimes you need to walk away and work elsewhere for a year. It would be very understandable.

@yangedd

Thank you guys.

I'm sorry for not replying today but I was so exhausted and burned out that I slept for nearly three hours. I'm after downloading an app called Calm from Google Play and bought Camomile tea so I'm going to try to relax at least a little. I will post a full update tomorrow.

Hopefully I can just stop feeling so alert and highly on edge for a little bit. It's 11:30pm here now so I'm praying for some release as I have my appointment with the nurse in the morning.

Have a lovely evening wherever you guys are and I will update tomorrow.

And thank you,

Ed

@yangedd – I'm sorry that you are feeling so hyped. Are you taking any new medicines or started a new food? Sometimes these can make a person hyped.

@merpreb Hiya,

I'm not on any new medication. Another sleepless night again. I'm highly on edge and have tremors. I actually feel like I'm just not with it. Like nothing feels remotely real. The nurse is running late (It's just gone noon) so I'm beginning to become agitated with it all. It took all my strength to shower and shave this morning and get ready. I'm also beginning to have fleeting moments of utter horror and panic and that dreaded feeling of impending doom and it's scaring me. I spent the night on YouTube watching music videos in an effort to just relax.

Will update again this afternoon if I'm feeling able to. And I will get back to everyone who has replied to me too.

@yangedd– Hang in there! You can, you know!

@sirgalahad

@yangedd I want to send my best and hugs to you with the impending anniversary of your mothers passing and her continuing journey on .I am Autistic I am coming up to my mums 15th anniversary of her passing when she fell down 2 flights of stairs and fractured her skull and aortic aneurysm my mums was 2 days after her birthday 15/2/04 .
I would like to send heaps of love and to say I understand , what has helped me on this day is to remember her beautiful ,unconditional love and wisdom and hugs and trying to being grateful for what she gave me which is life and existence. I always have an oil burner of lavender and franckinscence burning which helps me chill , I send lots of love in prayer and to go thru a period of gratefulness .thanking mum for stuff . I also recognize how hard this day is and always try and do nice stuff and honor her and go and visit her grave and say thanks there .listen to beautiful music which she loved gilbert and Sullivan mainly . I also collect her favorite flowers and have remedial massage . I try and be kind to myself and to be quiet and calm and to avoid what I call is the would of's should of's and if only .mainly because as an autie it increases my anxieties and depression and too much epinephrine flooding my amygdala .which will physically increase the anxieties and depression . I sometimes try and volunteer in mums charities and doing stuff to honor my mum. I also take my meds and mood stabilizer and or over acounter mild sedative or white tea or peppermint and or chamomile tea . try and think beautiful things and to let everything go over my head or pass me and not engage in or with anyone . make it a very special day in memeories of my mum .tis is what has helped me get through and pass my mums death .I had to witness her autopsy as an executor of her estate and explain to the police my whereabouts when mum died and the crap from my sisters about resolving her and settling her estates .because my sister hated me and wanted only mums monies and didn't care about my grief and hurt and just get on with the job

@sirgalahad these are such great ideas! I’m going to have to remember them. My mom is 95 and is getting fragile. I think I’ll start finding favorite music, charities, etc. I’ll be sure to share your ideas with my siblings! Thank you. You’ve certainly come up with very positive ways to honor your mom—she’d be very pleased. Becky

Please don't feel the added pressure of responding to each of our messages. An update or questions to all of us will work. It sounds as if from your description, you are in a rush of adrenaline gone out of control. Have you recently talked with a physician or mental health professional about how you are feeling? If not, you need to do so, even in the emergency room if you feel you're spinning out of control.

When my thyroid was hyperactive I felt like I was having panic attacks, was frightened, and was shakey all the time. You may want to suggest to your doctor to check your TSH and other thyroid labs, if they haven't already been checked. Do take action about how you're feeling. I hope you find some rest and relief for your anxiety soon. Wishing you the best.

Hi, @yangedd – just wanted to see how things went with the nurse? How is your sleep going and the feelings of panic and impending doom?

what you need to do is to stop the fright and flight mode and seek peace by regulating your breathing .by maintaining this hypervigilance you will drain your adrenal gland and to stop the hyper anxiety by the continuous flooding of your amygdala by epinephrine .the outset is to increase the anxieties and the tremors , I would strongly urge you buy essential oils of lavender and franckinscence and this chills u out and calms you down . Question are you drinking a lot of coffee that will increase the anxieties and are you eating ok and not eating a lot of lollies and coke . I would recommend drinking white tea and chamomile or peppermint tea . go for a vigorous walk or run if you can or a work out at the gym or punching bag or boxing classes

Hey people,

I had a very hostile and confrontational experience with my Psychiatrist yesterday. She was quite brazen in her insinuations. I did end up appealing them, of course but she is a woman who has her set thoughts.

I'm afraid I've once again resorted to cannabis to sooth my anxiety and sleep problems and it seems to be working. I'm a lot calmer and I'm also so creative.

Oh yeah. The nurse. I knew there was something. She did her best to reassure my horrific anxieties but she couldn't prescribe and I was left in a heap until I used the cannabis.

I wouldn't be a habitual user. Just something to take the edge off. A few spliffs to relax the mind and slow things down.

Just as a reminder: every habitual user started as an occasional user. It can happen rather slowly (and often) before you are really aware of it.

Hi, @yangedd – so sorry to hear about the very hostile and confrontational experience with your psychiatrist yesterday. That sounds very uncomfortable and unsettling. What are you thinking of doing for your psychiatric care in the future? Will you keep going to her?

Ed ,the reason I asked was to see what else may be adding to your anxiety levels and sleeplessness and I was curious and I also don't know what the contradictions between antipsychotic and a moodstabilser when you add in cannabis .
especially if don't know the level of active level of cannabis , with cannabis oil the narcotic side of the drug has been removed and only the pain management and calming side is left .that's why for people with chronic issues is strongly recommended to use cannabis oil and other essential oils first . I would like to know if anyone else in this group can help and inform me
