Severe neuropathy in feet and less severe in fingers.

Posted by stargate1965z @stargate1965z, Jan 23, 2025

I suffer from severe neuropathy in my feet and to a lesser degree in my fingers and legs. I’ve had to deal with this for years. I can’t find a doctor who will prescribe me anything other than Tramadol. It takes the nick out of the pain then again sometimes it doesn’t as well. 5 or so years ago I finally had to start wearing my socks and shoes on 24/7 (minus showers of course). That means I sleep in my socks and shoes as well as wearing every day at all times. The pain is too severe to not wear them.

I still have pain while wearing them but it definitely helps when I do. The pain can get so bad that I beg God to take me but I love my wife and dogs so much that I immediately take it back. I can’t find a doctor that will prescribe any pain meds even though my pain is so severe. I have medical records, tests and other evidence of my existing condition. The one neurologist told me after trying a few tests to learn to live with it. I wasn’t happy with that suggestion by any means. It was determined that I have chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy CIDP.

Basically I just need information or suggestions as to where I might be able to find a doctor to help me. My own doctor feels bad for me but says he can’t prescribe anything else. I don’t have any issues with drug abuse at all so that’s not a problem. Any thoughts? Thanks I would appreciate it!!

Saved my life, hopefully will help others. We’ve just had a horrible case on the news a 64y/o man with nerve pain in foot paid someone $5000 to use a circular saw to cut his foot off in a park but bled out and died, heartbreaking knowing this may have saved him. Plus the fellow got jailed for doing it.

Yes.
Our nerves are made with assistance of vitamin C.
Then they get coated with insulating myelin we call vitamin B12. I am guessing u take little if any vitamin C and no B12. Alcohol negates them both. Over to you.

Hi
Yeah you’re right that I don’t really take vitamin C and the doctor actually was concerned about the B12 but after being tested it seemed I’m not that low on B12. Alcohol is hardly an issue actually since me and my wife are not big drinkers or even little drinkers lol. We have a glass of wine every now and then but usually it’s during a holiday. Back to you.

Yes Stargate, you are on to it. I am 83.5 and have only just in the last 10
yrs come to understand how nutrition effects our mental and physical
health.
Few seniors get enough vit C and even less B12.
C makes nerves, while B12 wraps them with insulating myelin. Our brains are
packed with myelin. Alcohol , even a little effects it.So I have stopped
drinking it.
My latest concern is SARCOPENIA.
Good luck
James

You did not say your age.
We elders have less stomach acid. B12 is extracted from food via acid. Blood test suggested that your B12 was ok. But is that enough for you. Highest food source is mussels. Then liver. Go for it. C makes nerves, B12 insulates them.

Sorry you have to deal with this. I also have CIDP so I can empathize with your pain. I currently take 600 mg of R-alpha lipoic acid twice a day. It helps some with the pain. I refuse to take gabapentin or Lyrica due to the side effects.

Sorry about that! I’m 60 and had this problem since 2015. Thanks!
