Have you ever tried Valproic Acid. It is 2 medications in one. It is an anti seizure medication and a mood stabilizer in one. I previously had seizure disorder and later developed bipolar illness in my 30's. They are both under control now. Ask your neurologist whether that might help you.

3 ReactionsI had my first seizures in June 2025. I’m 80 years old so I’m new to this. I’m taking a combination of lacosamide and gabapentin. I’ve Ben seizure free since I left the hospital a year ago.

14 years ago, I had a bicycle accident on the road. That accident by myself. Over time, I’ve had meds of diffrent thangs. Over the last 4 years against seizure, I use LACOSAMIDE and GABAPENTIN several times a day.

2 ReactionsHi @emmy5510
Welcome to our group here at Connect — we're glad you found us!
From what I've learned, the type of AED medication to take depends on many factors: the type of epilepsy syndrome you have, the kind of seizures you experience, other medications you may already be taking, and your overall health profile. The best would be talking to your neurologist or epileptologist who knows your full picture.
In the meantime, I'd love to know more about your journey if you're comfortable sharing — what kind of epilepsy syndrome do you have, what type of seizures do you experience, and are you currently followed by a neurologist?
Chris
