Second Transplants @ Mayo

Posted by @coky, Nov 13, 2016

Does Mayo Clinic in Phx do second lung transplants? I had a bilateral Feb 2015 & this spring developed chronic rejection BOS. My Dr’s @ UHC in Colo. won’t to a second transplant & suggested I find another hospital. I am 62 years old & have Alpha 1 and was healthy except for my lung prior to transplant. Any advise?

I do not know any details but i would get to Mayo ASAP. I had a kidney transplant at Mayo Florida campus and i regard Mayo as the premium in all things health related. Best wishes.

Hi @coky,

Welcome to the group! Mayo Clinic’s lung transplant program in Phoenix is currently on a voluntary pause. We recommend you contact Mayo Clinic’s campus in Jacksonville, Florida as they will consider doing a second lung transplant.

To request an appointment by phone call 904-956-3309, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday.

To request an appointment online visit http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

Good luck and please let us know if we can do anything else to help!

Mayo in Phoenix contacted me and they basically said no, but then my original hospital is reconsiding re-transplanting me. I have my finger crossed that it works out. Thank you for your advise.

Hi Coky, as Kristin mention Mayo Phoenix is taking a voluntary pause. I cross my fingers too that your original hospital will reconsider a re-transplant. Should that not work out, you may consider contacting Mayo Clinic, Florida http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
