Rochester hotel with suites, good gym, and free breakfast/wifi

Posted by kari3057 @kari3057, Sep 15, 2023

Hi my teen and I will be in Rochester for a week next month. We won't rent a car and we are great with walking, subway etc. I've searched through these posts and done internet research but can't find detailed info on fitness facilities. Priorities for lodging:

Suites with a door, or reasonably priced two bedroom suite. (we both need our space)
Free breakfast (he loves hotel breakfast bar waffles)
Good wifi that isn't an add-on (i'll have to work between appointments)
A good fitness facility, bonus points for a rowing machine

or, are there any gyms or fitness facilities near the main campus that patients/families can use?

I've booked a suite at the Residence Inn, but really hoping for a rowing machine.

thank you!

Mayo has a concierge service you can call and see if they have any additional information about local hotels that meet your criteria.

Unfortunately, downtown Rochester does not have any independent gyms, so you will need to rely on what the hotel provides.

Also, calls to hotel directly might give you a "Mayo" discount vs booking on the web and give opportunity to ask about services.

We always stay at Staybridge. I’m thinking the happy hour is Monday to Wednesday and the appetizers have been sufficient as a meal for us.
Gym, pool, whirlpool all great. Love the rooms and ability to cook if you’d like.

Also, Staybridge is an IHG property. I have an IHG master card which I use. It accumulates points easily and quickly plus it gives you yearly comp room. There is a yearly fee- but the many points/ and comp rooms compensate. We’ve made multiple trips to Mayo and have never had to pay for a room here.

How is Aspen Suites? Maria.

We tried Aspen Suites: beds high, recliner wouldn’t recline, odd layout, preferred the Homewood Suites next door!

Hello @kari3057. One place that came to mind with the amenities you’re looking for was Staybridge/EVEN, this is two different hotels, joined together and share a lobby space. The hotel is located less then a mile away from the downtown campus, they have free breakfast, suites that would have two bedrooms and a great workout space (EVEN is focused on health and healthy living). They also have a shuttle that can bring patients/guests to the clinic buildings as well. I have also included a few other options that you could look into as well, all of the lodging options will have a discounted rate for Mayo patients.

Hi @kari3057, did you change your booking and find a hotel with a rowing machine? I haven’t had any problems with reliable wifi without additional costs at hotels or on campus at Mayo Clinic. You may wish to call to check though.

Any other questions as you prepare for your trip?
