I have to have infusion of Rituxan for ITP. I’m worried about not getting better. Anyone else have this?

@chowdhury6

I had a great result with Rituximab infusion. It gave me new life. I had it for ITP . I have lupus also. I took 4 infusion end of 2021. After 11 months platelet was down to 10. October 2022 I took again 4 infusion every week. 18 months has passed my platelet is holding very well. Around 150. I feel so much better. If my platelet goes down again I will repeat it. I am very happy with the outcome. I took so many prednisone. I became like zombie. I feel like I am a normal human being again. At least I know what works for me. I am 67 years old. Selina chowdhury

Is anybody sure the vaccine helped, Every one I knew that got covid got over it in two weeks and got it again a year later and it was no big deal.. The ones who died, did they get the vaccine in the hospital after they already have covid???? just a question!

@ginger3344 Please, let’s not start discussing Covid again! We’re all here to help those getting rituxan!
Thank you, Becky

In my humble opinion, every one of the million that died wishes they had had the vaccine. The vaccine wasn’t a cure, it was a preventative of a severe case that may have caused death. The scientists didn’t start from scratch to make it. They had a base that is in a lot of vaccines. Did some people have a poor reaction to it? Yes. Did others who may have died didn’t because of the vaccine, most probably. Take it, don’t take it. But please don’t listen to non scientists and their opinions. Most are politicking and couldn’t care less about you. My 2 cents.

I have had great results with Rituxan with no side effects - I am on it for CLIPPERS disease (I had brain lesions). I’ve also had Ruxience and noticed no difference between the two. I get an infusion every 6 months. If insurance is an issue (like it is for me) shop around and find a private clinic rather than going to the infusion center associated with your doctor or hospital. Also, I have now had a cold, some cuts and minor injuries and even COVID and my immune system worked normally healing and clearing things. I’m very grateful to report that I have not had any problems with my immune system being impaired by the Rituxan. Hallelujah! I was only on Pred for 8 months but it took awhile to feel like I was back to normal. It’s saved my life but gosh it’s a beast of a medication (good and bad). They don’t call it the Devil’s Tictacs for nothing. I’ve been off Pred/on Rituxan since Fall of 2022, next infusion is mid July 2024. I’ll report back on how it goes =)

I have ITP too. We can chat about it if you want to 🙂

I’m currently taking eltrombopag, and it has been a huge change, for the better.

It's natural to feel concerned about your treatment. Many patients with ITP report positive outcomes with Rituxan, but individual responses can vary. Consulting with your healthcare provider about your concerns and progress can provide reassurance and guidance.
