Reuse of CPAP Machines

Posted by Chris Gawarecki @rambler, Nov 25, 2020

What is a person to do with old CPAP machines?

Some how I seem to have inherited several. It seems a shame to toss the old ones, but who would re-purpose one?

I also realize that before re-use by someone else, they would need to be disinfected/sanitized/sterilized. Especially during this time of COVID-19.

P.S. Seems a pretty good racket by the manufactures to sell more machines. There must be some way to pass them on to a needy less fortunate person.

I went through the search about five years ago. I called several
Organizations the cpap assoc was not around or I didn't find. Everyone that would accept it wanted it shipped at cost to them. Instead I put out on Next door in Sacramento received both clap and BiPap. I gave them to people who needed them and was disgusted by several people who were reselling them. Eventually I was about to leave for NC and my pulmonary association center they had someone hand to lend short term to newly diagnosed patients waiting for insurance to cover one. And when they had surplus sent them back to manufacture
Accessories are available online. It's possible to clean the machine and instructions are online. I squirrel in on a problem and enjoy the but not everyone is the same.

@lolaemma- I'm on my 3rd C-pap machine and I was able to sell mine on Craig's List. Of course this was pre-Covid so I'm sure that might change things some. Anyway I received several replies each time and each party was happy to get them. Jim @thankful
