Residue after bowel movement

Does anyone have residue left after a bowel movement of soft stool? I use up almost a quarter roll of toilet paper to clean. I also wear a thin sanitary napkin.

Functional drs will take you as they normally don’t take insurance period (well, maybe medicare). It is only out of pocket.

@kamommy I don’t think there are any functional doctors in Canada. Health insurance is government run.

I live in Mexico. The situation is somewhat different. Most private doctors accept most insurance. They know most of their patients could not pay out of pocket.

I don't know that there are functional doctors in Mexico.

Yes I do. I have to be careful not to clog the toilet. I don’t know if it’s good or bad

Hate to say this however, I wipe downwards and use my TP wrapped thumb and when I locate the rectum I rub into it a little bit to remove and residue. Then I take a new wad of TP and start a wipe upwards from the rectum and use a TP wrapped index finger and press into the rectum a little bit as I wipe upwards. It helps removing and hidden soft stuff. I might have to do this a couple times. But, only used around 6 to.8 sheets of paper at a time.

I have been having soft uncontrolled bowel movements for several months now following successful treatment for esophageal cancer, kidney cancer, and thyroid cancer over the past 2 years. Today I saw a gastro doc who has recommended I have an Anorectal Manometry test which measures strength of muscles that control bowel movements. I have been wearing Depends to catch uncontrolled releases. Following this test I understand there are exercises which may help, and if not there are medications and also surgery options. I'd like to know if others have done any of these options?

It's a real pain. I know. When I have it soft or too wet of issues, I take a half does of an OTC stool hardener right afterwords. I get the generic version for better price. I have had 2 organ transplants over the past 24 years so I have experienced some annoying issues that took a bit to control. If I were you, talk to a Gastrointestinal Doctor. I had a Heptologist who works in the Transplant area. A Hep doc is a Gast doc but deals with livers and transplants.

Digestive enzymes/pancreatic enzymes at mealtime are very helpful, especially if there is much fat in the meal.

Have you entertained the notion of installing a bidet on your toilet?

I’ve thought about it. Wouldn’t help at work, friends homes, restaurants, traveling, etc. though.
