Reflux

Posted by wklapp @wklapp, 1 day ago

Is anyone else on Sucralfate? It’s to help with ulcers etc in the lining. I’m drinking 1g 3-4x a day along with 2 Omeprazole a day and still having awful reflux. I’m post surgery 9 months. I have another endoscopy with cryogenics tomorrow.

I couldn't take sucralfate, I take one 20 mg of omep. in the morning and one 40 mg of omep in the evening and one pepsid at 11am and 2 pepsid at 8pm. finally little or no episodes of the horrible reflux. I don't eat 4 hours before I go to bed and only drink about 10 ounces of filtered water between 6:30 and 7:45 pm and go to bed at 9. I sleep only on my back and on a mattress that is on my mattress and 7 inches higher at the head with 2 or more pillows on top of that and a pillow under my knees so I won't get back pain. I drink no coffee, eat no chocolate or citrus and don't take supplements except b12, e, d3 and one iron pill every other day as I was getting low in ferritin and we are hoping this will work. Good luck!!!!!!

I found it helpful during the latter phases of treatment and immediately afterwards. I also used, and still do, Cepacol sore throat lozenges, about 10K so far. Some throat irritation will always be with me, as in the last 15 months, since I substituted scar tissue for epithelium...

BTW, get that head up at night. A lot of the reflux problem will go away...

Yes, I take 3 a day plus the max dose of Omeprazole.
The burning reflux is under control most of the time although I still get fairly regular episodes during the night even tho I sleep elevated, don't eat after 7pm, avoid sweets etc
