Recovery from LAD STEMI

Posted by quirkyfeather11 @quirkyfeather11, Jul 11 12:16am

My husband had an LAD STEMI on May 28th. They placed a stent. His EF is 20-30%. How long before he starts to feel better. He went back to work but is constantly tired and is dizzy most of the day. Coreg, lipitor, amioderone, plavix, jardiance, aspirin, entresto. Hr is staying at around 50-55. He’s only 52 years old. Will he get better? He starts cardiac rehab on Monday. He was very physically active before.

Cardiac rehab is great. They will watch him. If they see something it will be dealt with ASAP.
Still early give it a few months and maybe you should talk with his doctor.
At rehab they monitor everyone. I know went through it.

Thank you for your response. We spoke to his doctor about it and he said the heart rate is intentionally being kept in the 50s to allow for healing and just to sit down when he gets dizzy. I’m looking forward to him going to rehab. He’s just always been so active, he’s worried he’ll never get better. He’s a little impatient as well:) thanks again

Could be the meds. I was extremely tired in plavix. Felt cold a lot of the time. No appetite. After a month I had an anaphylactic reaction and was switched to ticagrelor. I feel an awful lot better. More like myself.

I had a NSTEMI and two stents placed 10 months ago. I went to Cardiac Rehab twice a week for 12 weeks and it was great. The first three weeks I had profound fatigue but it did improve. It takes time and patience, rehab is a long process. I’m not back 100%, if I over do it the fatigue comes back with a vengeance. Pacing is key, listening to the body and resting when you need to. For me if I start getting a little bit dizzy and tired that’s my cue that I need to stop and rest. Stamina does start to increase slowly with time . I started out in the spring working in the yard for 15 minutes with a 20 minutes break, now I can work for 30 minutes with a 5-10 minutes rest break. I make sure that I’m exercising too, 30 minutes of yoga and 45 minutes of cardio everyday. I had to slowly work my way back to this Amount of activity too.
