Recommendations for nebulizer machine

Posted by positivethinking @positivethinking, Dec 30, 2024

I have been using a Respironics Inspire for the past year for ipratropium and sodium chloride 7%. I think my machine is on its way out since it has gotten very loud. Any recommendations for a good nebulizer that can handle the sodium chloride and other medication would be appreciated. I’ve read that some people like the Ombra tabletop machine. Is this a good one for nebulizing the sodium chloride? I have read that with some machines the sodium chloride causes clogging. Thank you in advance

Well, in the last few days I thought your Ombra sounded pretty good to buy in May.. I sent 3 emails to one company that sells them because on most ads they don't list the PSI. (All my Phillips were pretty much in the 40's) I got 3 messages back and they say it's 19PSI!!!! I have never heard of one that low. Then I found a manual on Google for Ombra table top that does list specifications and says it is 37PSI. I had been told years ago that the PSI is the strength of the mist that gets into your lungs? So, I took a screenshot of that manual page and sent back to the company selling and telling me 19PSI but no response yet. With some recommendations and comments applauding Ombra and their aeroeclipse I was sold. But not with a low PSI. I would also need a mask to attatch to that if i did buy in the future

That is very interesting. I would call the company that makes it (customer service) to verify.

Wow, I remember those old "bricks" as we called them - so noisy, but real workhorses.

I have been using ombra for over a year and so far so good and I use it a lot. It is not loud and I take it with me when I travel short. I am planning to buy another compressor nebulizer and think about drive devillbis compact compressor. I also have an unexpensive medline compressor which I received through my insurance almost three years ago - still good and I donated it to my husband.

I had one more thought. Somewhere on just nebulizers website there is a chart/ table of all kinds of nebulizers with all specifications such as PSI and size of produced particles. I still can’t understand if output higher PSI is better than the lower. There is also PSI number during nebulizing- so it’s confusing so may be you will figure it out and share here. Thank you

Thank you. Good to know for future reference. Right now I’m happy with the Ombra Tabletop Nebulizer that I purchased to replace my Phillips Respironics

I’m currently using Phillips Respironics and this is my 2nd machine. I have Bronchiectasis Asthma. I have to neb 2 times a day, Sodium Chloride and Albuterol. I use a pari LC cup which I like. Any recommendations on nebulizer machines. Mine is really loud lately. I didn’t know the filter needed replacing and I think that’s what did it. Nice that I was never told to replace filter after using 2 machines now with same issue.

I did a survey for this question not long ago after I’d searched for opinions on one. Hopefully it will help. After you buy new equipment, would you add your opinion to the post please.
