Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.
Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.
Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!
I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

@artist01, Not familiar with "Chicken Haddy" but used canned tuna with undiluted crm of mushroom soup on toast for an easy lunch. Stopped using the canned mushroom soup because of the added salt. Converting to a simple white sauce was easy but I've never used the salmon. Good idea. Now I make homemade fresh mushroom soup as a stand alone meal with croutons and a side of leafy salad.

That’s good to know about the anchovies....will let you know when I try them and may have to rinse some of the salt off. Hope you like the braised red cabbage recipe....lovely sweetness to it. As for the snake, I only had it once...it was already smoked ((I think) and cut up so there was nothing visually upsetting about it. I have had smoked eel several times and it tasted like steakish tidbits.
Tasted raw conch once...good grief..I would have to be marooned on an island with no fire to eat that again. Fried is okay but nothing I would choose again. I never did like Bluefish so I add that to my list of don’t likes..swordfish is the other one and I wouldn’t go near tilapia...junk fish.

Thanks, @gingerw, for alerting us all to National Pie Day! I didn't know to celebrate on the 14th but am making up for lost time now.
After challenging myself for days? weeks? to thoroughly clean inside of refrigerator before making another grocery visit, Friday, I made myself do the outrageous clean out. I was out of milk, bread and veggies so Saturday, I took self to early morning shopping.
In addition to the "necessaries", I managed to come home with frozen drumsticks, Klondike mint patties, and not one but two pies: Dutch apple pie and Key Lime....not saying they are my ultimate favorites because pecan, turtle, chocolate and coconut rank high as well, but oh, my goodness, what is not to like about any dessert pie????
When moving back to TX from MN, I made a lasting friendship with our Lutheran pastor and wife by serving them rhubarb pie on their first visit. Until those 2 yrs in Duluth, I'd never seen or tasted rhubarb. It is rare to find it available in our locale.
As for "healthy" pies, chicken pot pie, shepperd's and homemade chili/frito pies are pretty standard choices at my house.
So, @jakedduck1, I'll eat a slice of Key lime in your honor and then a second for being "such an understanding friend"! Smiles
@imallears, I've never tasted conch in any form but am with you on steering clear of tilapia.
@artist01, I am the only one in my clan who likes mincemeat. Later wondered if it is the rum? that is added??? Smiles
Like you, pecan pies are my most favorite and the one most requested by family.
At my daughter's one holiday, she'd bought some pecans at her grocers for my "special" pie. They were hard as rocks, tiny and almost bitter! From that experience, wherever she's lived, I annually send her fresh pecans bought from my area.
While our state is a big pecan producer, I have to rely on "store bought" walnuts and wonder if they too are far different from locally harvested fresh???
