Reason for reduced stamina?
After several years of dealing with Bronchiectasis, I am finding that my stamina for much of any exertion, especially if it involves any uphill incline, is getting lower and lower. I haven't had many flair-ups and my recent CT scan doesn't show further damage beyond what the original diagnosis revealed. So, I am puzzled as to what to do. I will check with my pulmonologist when I go in next time, but I thought I'd run it by some of the real experts who also live with this issue.
Thanks for any input you might have to offer.

My stamina has improved since I've been on Brinsupri 25mg. It's not overnight and takes a least 6 months to stabilize. Discuss with pulmonologist to see if it's right for you. Outside of a new med, perhaps there are some tweaks to your current routine/meds which might make some difference. Lung function decreases, however, as we age.
Could say more about your current routine for lung care?

2 ReactionsThanks for this information. Not sure if it's for me. I don't have frequent flair ups, but I could ask my pulmonologist about it. As of now, I use Symbicort in my inhaler twice a day and also nebulize one or two times a day. I use Ipratropium Bromide in a nasal spray for post-nasal drip and I do floor yoga to raise my lungs above my head so as to help clear the lungs. That's about it.

Definitely talk with your doctor about the stamina issue. Perhaps your PFTs are reduced? You are correct that Brinsupri is often prescribed for those with a history of frequent exacerbations so might not be right for you. Some of the research data showed in the clinical trials that lung function improved in those on Brinsupri. Time will give us more information.

2 ReactionsThank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it. Hope to get some more input as well.
I have to admit that I half laughed when I read it. It sure resonated with me. I’m actually stable lung wise and am grateful to still be pretty active, but am about 30 sec/mi slower than 2-3 years ago. There are also more days that I really want to just sit-a bad idea for us and not common for me.
If you tell us a bit more about your day to day activity, we might be able to give better advice. Do you walk or otherwise exercise regularly? Is there another diagnosis that could be impacting your stamina? I recently switched to Symbicort and the little cough that had crept in again after being in wind or aftrr exercise seems better. Hope it helps my energy. I’m on a biologic for another reason and it might contribute.
