Has anyone attended Mayo's HABIT program for MCI?
I’m interested in hearing from anyone who has attended the HABIT Healthy Action to Benefit Independence & Thinking™ program. How beneficial was it to you & your spouse/family member? Thank you.

Hi @tryingtimes10, I adjusted the title of this new discussion to focus on your questions about the HABIT Healthy Action to Benefit Independence & Thinking™ program offer at all 3 campuses of Mayo Clinic in Florida, Arizona and Minnesota.
For anyone wanting to learn more about HABIT see here:

I believe that @liv4now @joancampy @suesearing @loisjparrish @jona77 @georgeaw are a few of the graduates participating here. Additionally, @randywhite and others have shared some of their experiences in this related discussion:

@tryingtimes10, it looks like you're considering enrolling in the program. Do I have that right?
Hi Colleen
I absolutely loved the Habit program and it definitely helped me be a better wife for Jan. Unfortunately Jan died July 27, 2022 and I am no longer interested. Thanks for all you do.
Joan
Thank you for your response. I’m sorry for your loss.
We are considering it. My husband sometimes acknowledges he has a problem & other times diminishes it. He said he would consider it if I thought it would help “me”. I sense he feels there is nothing in it for him so I question how motivated he would be to give it his best given his response.
My husband and I attended HABIT in Arizona in 2019. I highly recommend it for both the affected person and the partner. They provide you with the best research-informed information available and dispel myths. We still use the MSS (Memory Support System) and attempt to follow the MIND Diet. One of the most beneficial aspects of the program is the opportunity to interact with other people experiencing the same issues. My only regret is that we aren't close enough to participate in alumni support groups. Absolutely go, even if your partner is hesitant. They will learn so much and feel the support of others struggling with similar issues. There is Hope!
So good to hear from you, @joancampy. I'm sorry to hear of your loss and that Jan passed during Covid and a high time of isolation. Send me a message privately if I can help you with your settings to get only the notifications you want or to unsubscribe.
Or perhaps you might find this support group helpful or be able to share your support for others:

I signed up for the experimental 6 month free online trials and start next week. I was most impressed with the first orientation zoom meeting and my husband was so interested in what I was doing that he invited himself to sit next to me and participate, hahaha. We live in Louisiana.
Thank you for your response. Please let me know about your experience with the program. After discussing it with my husband, he said he would be agreeable if I felt it would “help me”. He diminishes his deficits telling me he was “always” that way (which is not entirely true). He did have poorly compensated ADHD, so he tries to attribute some of what is going on to that, which neuropsych testing did not validate. It revealed 2 separate issues, one of which was an abnormal MRI & a mild cognitive impairment. Until he is ready to accept he has a condition other than ADHD, I’m not sure how helpful the program would be to him. Thanks for contacting me & please keep in touch.
