Pseudomonas - blame aspiration

Does anyone have experience with pseudomonas being caused by aspiration/acid reflux?

That is an interesting question. When I was diagnosed with pseudomonas in 2018, the pulmonologist told me that we seldom know the source of this infection, unless we were recently hospitalized, when it is often classed as "hospital acquired" since it is ubiquitous there.
Can you tell us why you think it is from aspiration or reflux?
Do you also have bronchiectasis and/or MAC?

Upon review of my CT and after conducting a swallow test - they believe that reflux/aspiration was the likely cause or contributed to it.

Hi Sue - forgot to answer - no I do not have bronchiectasis and/or MAC? Diagnosis is chronic bronchitis. Was treated w a variety of meds. Cipro for 3 weeks seemed to have made a dent in it Been nebulizing w 7% clears the airways nicely

Have they repeated the test for pseudomonas? It seems the latest protocols are to try to eradicate it before it can colonize in your lungs and become a long-standing problem.
Also, I was diagnosed for several years with "chronic bronchitis" and "intractable asthma" and thought I just needed to "learn to live with it." Finally, a sharp-eyed radiologist suggested a pulmonology consult dur to "indications of Bronchiectasis."
Are you being treated by a pulmonologist experienced in managing pseudomonas?

The pseudomonas was discovered in a sputum test, and then confirmed in a lavage bronchoscopy this past Nov. Latest sputum test from a couple weeks ago says there is scant pseudomonas whatever that might mean. I have a pulmonologist at NYU in New York, and also one down here in Florida both are reversed to varying degrees in pseudomonas. They seem to be in agreement that I’ve been subjected to way too much in the way of steroids and antibiotics before it was actually known what I have. The most aggressive treatment for the pseudomonas has been a three week course of Cipro which ended in Dec. since then, the nebulizer/sodium has been working well until I caught a cough which increased the volume of sputum/color. That seems to be gone. Thoughts?
