I had. Pseudo gout at age 35, and many times in my 70s. It’s usually in my right hand and left knee. I blame it on overuse, it’s caused by crystals that settle in the joints and makes the joint very painful, swollen, and appears just like gout. No one in my family ever had it. I also had my right knee replaced due to sever arthritis and I just assumed my left knee was arthritic too. But, it’s fine, very little arthritis, and the pseudo gout is under control at this time. I’m 83 and suffering with other arthritic conditions right now. It’s an ongoing issue!
I took nsaids for a decade and wore generation 2 knee braces when needed, for 17 yrs. I finally found a Dr in Vancouver who would replace my right knee. Because I had 4 scopes on that knee previously, there was a lot of scar tissue and recovery was slow. 10 yrs later I had the left knee done, and recovery was a breeze. Since I can no longer take nsaids, I use dicloffenac cream on my back, neck and ankles. It works pretty well, as long as I don’t over do it🤪
Thank you for your reply. I’m so sorry to read what a tough time you have had. Cannot imagine the knee replacements and all the pain you must’ve gone through. I hope your health improves.

I am counting my blessings…my right knee started to swell, kind of felt like a sausage casing…🤣…and started getting worse. Next day I went to urgent care, they said wrap, elevate and ice. Hah! Next day I had an appointment with another doctor for something else, and fainted on his table, because the pain was so bad. Almost ambulance…
Was able to get into orthopedist that afternoon, he drained it, injected something I presume was cortisone into it. He sent fluid to a lab and called with results next morning. Pseudo gout. He said probably wouldn’t come back…🤞
That has been like 4 years ago and all good.
Never heard of it, and crazy thing-my friend had the same thing like a month before…
I pray for your comfort and healing!
Would you sharing how you control the pseudo gout? A few years ago I had it in both knees and it was horrendous.

Thank you. Thinks are looking up!
Cortisone injections. My doctor prescribed Colchisane, but I didn’t take it. I just relied on Tylenol or Advil if the pain was very bad.
