Prolia and Hair Loss

Anyone experience hair loss with Prolia? I would also like to hear about those on Prolia with no issues?

I have received my first two doses of Prolia this year and am experiencing significant hair loss, its very scary, since I always had a very full head of hair. My question is, if I continue on with the Prolia, will my hair continue to fall out until I am at the point of being bald, since Prolia is a long term medication? Don’t know how the FDA could have approved Prolia, it has some very significant side effects!

What do you feel has less risks? I’m considering Forteo but have low BP and hear it can cause hypotension on rising, among other things.

I have very low BP (90/50)and was on Forteo for 2 years with no issues. Everyone is different of course but just wanted to share my positive experience as I know how hard these decisions are.

I can't speak for phyllisden, but I use Crest gum and enamel repair. I recently purchased Crest Densify. I've been on Prolia since Oct. 2020, and so far so good.

I have been on Prolia for 6 years and never experienced anything negative.

I have only had two shots this past year and so far, so good. But I have experienced hair loss in the past due to other treatments as well as a significant family loss. I found a great shampoo that really helped. It's called Pure Biology and I get it through Amazon. It's amazed my hair dresser.
Also, my dentist (whose wife is also on Prolia) has had me switch to an enamel strengthening tooth paste. Prolia can rarely cause significant damage to your teeth and jaw so it's important that your dentist follows you closely.

My first shot of Prolia I noticed hair loss. The second shot significantly more hair loss. I doubled up on my multiple vitamins and that is helping. Always used a good shampoo but changed to Olaplex No 4. My hair now seems to be under control. I have decided to go off Prolia because it has affected my bones in my hand and one toe that I broke just before my second Prolia shot. The toe was 80 percent healed and 2 weeks after my second shot the joints in my hands and toe seem to have some form of arthritis. Ex rays were taken but I won’t be seeing my rheumatologist until February.

I was on Forteo, daily injections for two years. It was very expensive. In my case it did not stop the progression of my bone density loss. I did have rheumatoid arthritis years ago and what did me in was a long term treatment of prednisone which damages your bones. Forteo may work for others, but it did not for me.
By the way, I stopped eating red meat and that is how I ended my rheumatoid arthritis, but the damage was done.

4 rounds of Prolia. No new bone scans but I was just turned down for ankle surgery based on demineralization of the ankle bone. I had rheumatoid arthritis and my bones were damaged by being on Prednisolone for more than two years.
