Pregnancy chance?

Posted by xtinemarie @xtinemarie, Jul 27 2:11pm

I went 21 months without a period from February 2024 through November 2025. Then I had what felt like a period with PMS symptoms and a five day light bleed. I got checked out but no cause was found. I just had unprotected sex last night and I’m concerned about my chances of getting pregnant. I’m not sure if the bleed from eight months ago was an actual period or something else. What are the chances of pregnancy in this case? I am 49 and will turn 50 this year. Thank you.

Hello, @xtinemarie, and welcome.

I can understand why you're feeling uncertain. Changes in menstrual cycles during perimenopause and menopause can make it difficult to know exactly where you are in the transition, especially after having gone so long without a period and then experiencing unexpected bleeding.

Because every person's situation is different, it's hard for anyone here to say what your chances of pregnancy might be. Your doctor is in the best position to answer that question based on your medical history. Have you had a chance to follow up with them since you posted?
