Pre-Kidney Referral to In Person Evaluation

Posted by tag482 @tag482, Nov 5 4:16pm

I just found out that the pre-kidney referral team are so backed up in AZ that they are currently processing people who sent in their medical records in May. I just sent mine in so I likely won't hear from them until March. I am so very excited at the chance to list with them, but wow! I was hoping to get my in person evaluation done before I start dialysis at the end of December. I am learning that you can't "plan" anything with kidney failure. Did others here have the same wait? I guess I'll be flying to AZ from NY with my PD bags in tow. Best of luck to us all!

Had a liver transplant in AZ last year. Sorry your wait may (or may not ?) be that long but Mayo is so very good. Though difficult worth the wait. Hope & predict things will turn out well in the long run. An old sports adage you must "Play the long game." (---:

I found out that my blood has high sensitivity antigens in the 90. My son s my same blood type and is currently being tested as a possible donor. I now understand that even a live donor will be hard to match and I might have to do a share program. Has anyone else gone through this?

@colleenyoung I am really looking forward to working with the Mayo Clinic and understand the wait is long because it is SUCH a great organization. I was shocked, that's all. I'll eventually get the call. I have been listed with Weill Cornell for 19 months. I just started registering with NYU Langone, Hartford CT, Hackensack NJ and Univ PA. Serious Multi-Listing. Thank you!
