PRALUENT ineffective

Posted by bacongirl @bacongirl, 2 days ago

I started 75 mg Injections of PRALUENT every two weeks on Feb 25, 2025.
In June I had blood tests my Apo b only went down by 5 points.
My LDL went up to 136 from 109 and my total went up to 226
Any one relate to this?

Also my doctor now recommends I try a new drug called Nexeltol 180mg once a day.
Has any one been on this with good results?

Hi @bacongirl, and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! Darn, I am so sorry Praluent did not work for you. It is encouraging your doctor thinks Nexletol (bempedoic acid) may do the trick.

I tried Repatha and Praluent. I don’t remember checking APO-B. Unlike yours, I know my LDL dropped but not nearly what was expected. I am successfully taking Nexletol now.

Have you tried Repatha as well? Do you have concerns about trying bempedoic acid?

Nexletol is great but very expensive. I have had no side effects. It does not work as well as statins. Brought my LDL down about 20%. They also have Nexlizet…it is a poly pill of Nexletol and Zetia (if you can take Zetia).

Best, Vania
