Post nasal saline rinse caused nasal cold air inhalation.

Hello,

2 months ago I performed, for the first and last time, a saline nasal rinse with boiled water.

Immediately I experienced that nasal cavity was too clear and felt cold air sensation on nostril inhalation (painful).

What followed in the coming days was a runny nose, cold nose tip and constant sinus sensation of switching from one nasal cavity to the other.

At present, everything as above it without a cold tip of nose.

My nostril slowly produces boogies (not as frequent or regular as previous.

I wonder if anyone else has had the same experience as myself.

I now sleep with an ear plug in one of my nostrils.

Ps I have a ENT appointment in 4 weeks.

Hi….I have been doing antibiotic nasal rinses am and pm, now for a week . I was told to use only distilled water. I have chronic sinus issues including infections in the left maxillary showing a bacteria called Pseudomonas …..
So my ENT Dr wanted to try the antibiotic rinses….which had to be handled by a compound pharmacy …I know Cipro is one of the 3 antibiotics. I have not experienced the side affects you have however I do get dizzy assuming this liquid is messing around with my inner ear and balance ..
I see my ENT Dr end of this month so we will find out how successful this has been . I am 85 yrs old and prefer not to have surgery . Although he says he would have to use General Anesthesia but it would only take him about 30 minutes to open up the sinuses so they drain better .
Hope your rinses behave better if you continue them….sounded like you were finished with them however . All the best , Kay

Yes you are coreect, if I can avoid all nasal flushes then I will. I have no idea what caused my problem: type of water, saline, or both, the mix ratio, pressure, duration etc etc.

@tranzformer I can almost predict what ENT will tell you. "Here, I am writing you a script for fluticosone propionate. Two sprays in each nostril twice daily. Make an appointment to see me in a month. If any other more serious symptoms occur. call 911.

I'm in the United Kingdom so not sure what he will recommend. I hope I get a experienced and knowledgeable Doctor.
