Post Menopausal vaginal bleeding causes?

Posted by kkathysan @kkathysan, Aug 11 2:39pm

I am a 71 yr. Old women who is now having a heavy prolonged period again, approximately 20 yrs. After menopause. I also have pelvic pain like menstrual cramps! I am now waiting on a GYN appointment after the Urologist confirmed it is not my bladder causing the bleeding. UTI symptoms originally started this process, and has progressed to excessive bleeding and clots with the pelvic pain on the right side continuing. I realize this is not a good thing, but am reading only 10 % turns out to be cancerous. Hoping I can hear some encouragement of what else it might be that’s not cancer from anyone that has experienced this. I did have a reprieve yesterday as the bleeding stopped but today it has resumed again! Thanks for any help in understanding what might be happening with my body. Waiting of course is the worst part, and I can’t get into my GYN for 2 more weeks. Thanks again and God Bless!

@rashida Thank you for your prayers. It sounds like your Family Dr. really thinks you need more test. I pray God will open a door for you to get the peace of mind you deserve. I will post an update after my exams next week. Praying I’m in the 90% club! 😊 I did hear an encouraging story recently. A friend of my sister told her she had the exact same symptoms as I am having and hers turned out to be a benign tumor lodged in her uterine wall. They were able to take care of it in 20 minutes!! So there are many other things it could be. 🙏🏻

UPDATE on Biopsy: Well Ladies I promised I would update everyone after the biopsy. Unfortunately I don’t have the news I had hoped to hear. I have been diagnosed with Endometrial Adenocarcinoma, Endometrioid type (FIGO grade 1). I’ve been told this particular type is most common and does not generally spread rapidly. They will know the staging after I have surgery. So I am sad I have to go through that, but I was relieved to hear my ovaries looked normal and this type of cancer is curable. Ovarian cancer is so much harder to cure I’ve heard, and I must admit I was fearful of it being that. Thank God it is not! Thank you for your prayers and I will continue to pray for you all as well.

I will be getting into a GYN Oncologist hopefully next week. They told me to call back on Tuesday if I had not heard from them. Seems they are waiting on details from my pathology report and the referral. So I suppose I am in for a hysterectomy in my future. You all take care.

@kkathysan So it's the news you hoped not to hear. I was diagnosed with the same - endometrial adenocarcinoma FIGO Grade 1. This kind of cancer and with FIGO Grade 1 is not considered to be aggressive or spread quickly as you wrote. I'm hoping that you will get in to GYN ONcology next week and will have your treatment plan explained to you. I know I felt better and less anxious once I knew what plan was recommended and when it would occur.

Will you please come back and let me know what happens at your GYN Oncology appointment?

@kkathysan that’s so true … when you know what you are dealing with, it certainly is easier to deal with it.
