Post Hip Replacement Surgery complications

Posted by Ann Dunn @anndunn, Nov 14, 2011

I am in search of a solution to chronic pain after surgery that has lasted a
year and half. The pain comes while I'm standing or walking. Gone when I sit or lie down, or if I'm swimming in a warm pool.
Can anyone shed any light on what I can do or what this condition is that I am experiencing.
Thanks.

I had a torn labrum from a auto accident while i was working on 03/01/2018, because it was workers comp and a of red tape it took over a year before i had the labrum repaired. I had to use my own insurance to do it however. I was in to much pain and could not wait any longer, all they had me do was PT and take meds which i was not a huge fan of. The PT made it worse and the drugs made me groggy. Well the surgery did not do much ,shortly after that my hip was worn do to the prolonged wait for my labrum repair. In 05-2021 i had a total left hip replacement. not much later i was getting a sharp groin pain after sitting for for then just a few minutes when i stood up it was worse. I went back to the doctor a while later they did a MRI and x-rays they said all my components are in tact but the MRI showed i have iliopsoas bursitis that is causing the pain. The hip revision doctor recommends a "release of the iliopsoas" that is where they go in and cut it therefore releasing it but there is no guarantee it will work. The doctor that did my total hip replacement told me i had a lot of scar tissue in my hip from my labrum surgery and because of that my hip surgery took longer than he expected. so my question is can the scar tissue cause the pain i still have ? i am very hesitant to do a third surgery.

I found a wonderful hip Dr! Dr Yesamides at Louisville Hip and Knee in Louisville. He took x-rays. Found bursitis and nerve pain. Put me on gabapentin and Prednisone. I am already doing much better! They really care. They explain everything to you. Dr "Y", what they call him is very caring of your situation and listens to you. He is so awesome! I highly recommend. He is Springhurst in the Meridian Bldg.
