Have you had any testing done to check your thyroid function? Anxiety/ depression, fatigue, muscle/ joint aches, muscle weakness, trouble sleeping are some of the issues I experience when my thyroid hormone levels are imbalanced. It's a simple blood test to look at values. It may be worthwhile to explore it with your doctor if you haven't yet.

2 months after I had covid I started to developed new symptoms. Since no clear explanation other than “stress” “anxiety” being the reason for my new onset of symptoms my dr order labs and only thing it showed was my elevated thyroid levels. A result of covid ? Idk.

It’s not really anxiety - it’s your nervous system being over charged by many factors. I am working with all sorts of alternative healers after Western docs had nothing to help me. Coconut water and electrolytes are calming along with magnesium, ice pack on your head and face, natural sunlight every day, walking, gardening, things that help your vagus nerve function properly - tongue scraping, gargling, singing. Eating increased amounts of antioxidants - dark grapes and berries. Reiki is awesome. Anything you can do to keep the ‘anxiety’ and other symptoms at a low level before they get full blown helps your system start learning to be calm again - I have found. Hang in there. When you feel a good moment sit with that and take in that feeling - your body and mind learn from that.

This is interesting as I too had the chest pains and pressure, dizziness, etc. My do. Told me to go to the ER and all tests fortunately were fine! However symptoms continue. Seeing a therapist and been trying various inhalants and medications. I’d welcome a private message with your treatment sources - I’m in Minneapolis.

Yes. I’m already medicated for depression and anxiety and long Covid made it worse.
I’d lose my car and spend 25 minutes searching for it, which would spike my anxiety, and make it harder to focus.
I was also anxious at work because I couldn’t be effective in meetings pulling info from the top of my head. That hit my confidence and was depressing.
So I’ve worked with my psychiatrist and long Covid team on meds. Communities like this help. Letting my family and some close friends in helps. I let a good friend at work know for support and to let me know if my behavior was off.

I’m right there with you! I had Covid very early April 2022 and had no idea how it would impact my focus…still! And the anxiety and other symptoms that followed - wow! It comes and goes.
My employer has no understanding when I’d and literally told me In April that I was using Covid as an excuse - it’s horrible!
Just yesterday (and not the first time) I couldn’t find my car after 10 min in a store! I start a recipe or project at home as a “break” and just can’t seem to finish them. So not like me at all!!

I had Covid in last November. It was very mild, 2 days in bed and I was apparently OK. But... 2 weeks after that, a panic attack (the first one in my life!). At the time, I was on fluoxetine (20 mg) for 20+ years, and I was OK, no crises at all that time! So, I increased my dose to 40 mg (as prescribed by my psychiatrist). In the first weeks, my appetite was zero - and I was just able to eat ice cream, yogurts and things like that.
Now, 3 months later, I feel better (less anxiety waves, sleeping better), maybe because of the increased fluoxetine dose. But I still have ups and downs, and ANY minor event (bad news, even an unexpected phone call) may act as a trigger. I feel afraid of making plans, since I'm always afraid of feeling bad in any unusual situation. I'm tired!
My psychiatrist thinks I should increase the fluoxetine dose again (to 60 mg). I'm afraid of the side effects (which usually come at the first weeks of an increased dose), but I think I have to give it a try!
Anyone who has benefitted from an increased dose of an antidepressant?

I was on Lexapro for depression and had been for several years when I got covid in August of 2021. I was sick for about 4 months and in April my depression worsened to the point I could hardly speak , it was such an effort and everything, I mean anything involving leaving my home was almost debilitating. I spoke with my doctor and explained all my issues and what all had happened and she added a 2nd antidepressant
.. she originally wrote Rexalti but it's around $1500 per MONTH and $1300 with good rx and my insurance wouldn't approve it. So she gave me risperidone 1 mg per day. Within 10 days I could tell a huge difference. She also gave me antianxiety med for acute attacks .. I wish all of us with long haul the best and God bless us.

Yes. My depression is much better but sometimes it's still hard to keep my anxiety under control but I'm much better (in that aspect) than I was.

I have struggled with anxiety and depression my entire life. I am stabilized on 30mg of Fluoxetine/day for panic disorder and take 1mg Clonazepam on Wednesdays, Sundays, and 0.5 on Fridays. Between my problems with anxiety and depression and osteoarthritis, almost from the beginning I have been more afraid of long COVID than from actually dying from it. I'm 55 and doing everything possible to age well, but frankly, if I got long COVID and it made these issues even worse than they are, my quality of life would be seriously compromised as I already have to do so much self care to live a functional life. My heart goes out to any of you who are experiencing this.

Both my husband and I have never had COVID and enrolled in an NIH study called RECOVER which is looking at how COVID affects the body. We are in an increasingly rare group of people. They did very extensive tests initially to get our baseline numbers and will be following us for four years with periodic surveys and additional tests from time to time. If and when we do get COVID, they'll be all over us measuring how our bodies respond. It's our hope that we can be of help to others and ourselves by participating in this study.

Shortly after I had a mild case of Covid in 2022, I developed extreme anxiety. I'm not sure if it was caused by Covid or my worry about the many health issues I was having which I believe were part of long-Covid. My Dr prescribed Sertraline (Zoloft), two weeks at 25mg/day and then a maintenance dose of of 50mg/day. After a few weeks, it really helped reduce my anxiety. After a few months, I decided to taper off to see if my anxiety issues were resolved. I did fine without the meds so stopped the Sertraline. Luckily, about a year after Covid, my many long-Covid issues have gone away.
